Supplements, white blood/T cells, and my therapy
« on: May 13, 2010, 02:09:48 PM »
Hi! I'm on Truvada + Isentress (just 8 weeks) and, even if I don't experience any side effect, I'm interested in taking supplements to improve my health. I have started with omega-3 and a calcium and vitamin D combination for a week (since tenofovir may cause bone losses). I would appreciate any recommendations people might have, or links/referrels to other sources of information. For example, are there ways to improve white blood/T-cells activity? I was suggested to take folic acid + B6/B12 vitamins, but I'm worried about side effects on my kidneys (tenofovir may also cause renal toxicities). Most of all, I would like to avoid expensive dietary supplements of any kind. Thank you in advance.

Hi there,

I just started on Atripla myself and have put together the following regimen of supplements. They are all pretty cheap, total cost is 2.1 a day. You should google each one to see what it contains, how it works and whether it makes sense for you.

==========
Aug08 - Seroconversion
Mar10 - Diagnosis; cd4 690 - VL 19,000
Apr10 - cd4 600
May10 - VL 4,500
Jun10 - started Atripla ; VL 113
Jul 10 - UD vl, CD4 590
Aug 10 - UD, CD4 810, 52%
Nov 10 - UD, CD4 980

borzel, you may wanna throw in a good multi-vitamin (without iron) to have most of your bases better covered. I surmised from your list, these are singular supplements and not part of a multvit already?

Thanks, Merlin.

Actually there is a multivitamin in the mix - it's called Now Adam Multivitamin, courtesy of Madbrain who recommended it. It's the only multivitamin I know that contains enough selenium - 200 mcg - that I want to have anyways.
