« on: April 12, 2010, 02:43:12 PM »
Does anyone out there know if it's OK to take Nytol when taking Atripla?

I really need to get some sleep!

Thanks in advance.

When I have trouble sleeping I generally take some NyQuil. This seems to be the best for me. I have tried everything from Benedryl to Ambian and nothing works as well as a swig of the stuff.

I am not sure of any interactions with the Atripla, but my labs have been good and my Dr does not see a problem with it. More importantly Thank goodness I can sleep better when taking it.

I don't think NyQuil is available in the UK  :(     The Nytol seems to be a bit hit and miss as to whether it works for me or not.

Now if I could only find that old stash of Diazepam from when I broke my spine ...... then I'd sleep!

Wow, you are right. They do not sell NyQuil or the generic over the counter cough syrups in the UK. That is too bad. Almost every store in the US sells a generic of NyQuil. I think every household has some in their medicine cabinet.

I have tried both over the counter sleeping aids and supplements as well as prescription Ambian and Lunesta and they do not really help. NyQuil always does the trick for me. They say that the UK version called "Nite Nurse" is nothing like the real thing.

Good luck.

Sleep issues with the Sustiva was one of the main reasons I stopped taking Atripla and switch to something else. In the AM after taking a sleeping pill and the Atripla, I really was a zombie. I sleep like a baby now.

Hi Brother David

You are on Atripla, right?

If you are on other combos that include Norvir, the Norvir does act as a booster for one of the drugs in Nyquil.
