Sorry, but the coughing sounded fake to me.

Sounded real to me, but I will admit it's the same one I attained from my Newport addiction.

The only thing I didn't like was "The positive things about being poz" or whatever he called it.  He said it was meant as sarcasm.  Other than that, he is sharing his experience and giving some good advice.  His CD4 may have been in the AIDS category due to many factors.  I asked him to share his labs and meds and he said he was working on that today.

I think many young people (I sound so old saying that) would watch his videos.  So far, I say good for him.

EDIT:  I just saw he responded to this forum in video form.  I wish he would have shared his numbers.  If he's going to discuss HIV, that is usually something people like to know.  However, I don't know if everyone on here shares that info.  If he is truely poz, I can see why he is upset.  It is a big blow to be doubted about anything--especially HIV.  By the way, I wish I had his video skills.  I've worked at TV stations since I was 18 and still don't know how to edit video.

In these days and age when there are so many fake claims, tales and videos on forums and Youtube it's the norm to doubt, but of course for some, doubters are the same as haters, or at least until their covers are blown and then merrily they can all claim things were done with good intentions and then move on to something else.

While delusional Messiah complex is as usual and well-spread as the common cold on the web (and unfortunately for some in real life) I really don't see any need to justify our supposed "cruelty" whenever we voice our doubts because the truth is truly just whatever those engage in its construction would like to shape and reshape as they see fit and pleasing to themselves.

So, guess we should just take his suggestion and *bip* off and let this little episode slides by the wayside and in no time it will be just one of too many millions of forgotten footage that serve no other purpose than taken up space on the internet.

Nice video work though.. ;)

You cannot put yourself up on YouTube as this rather preposterous young man has and then complain when you're questioned. He has made himself into something of a public figure and must therefore endure what follows.

Further extraordinary claims (and I submit some of his claims are quite extraordinary) require extraordinary proof. Slick video editing doesn't consitute such proof.

He might be HIV positive, I allowed for such a possibility in my OP, but that doesn't change the fact that there is something confected, something contrived about his patter. He rings somewhat hollow.

I'm with MtD on this.  If one makes public statements that are false, at what point do we believe the rest of what one says?  OK, so the dying part was just being dramatic; I can buy that (but think it's an insulting, BS way to be dramatic).  Now we're questioning his claim of having 'full blown AIDS'.  If he wants to be believed, he needs to back up a bit and start over.

Maybe he should submit his medical records to us?  Were you similarly challenged would you be willing to prove yourself?  How would you do so?

What statements has he made which have been false?  Is rattling off a list of meds or enumerating OIs going to make him credible?  If he is 19 (I suspect he has that hormonally caused syndrome which makes 59 year olds look 19 [anyone see Orphan?]) maybe he's not as well educated as some.  I said already he made be full of it but so far I see nothing to complain about.

One of my best friends is 40 something now, first diagnosed in the mid 90s while in hospital dying, and today has a CD4 in the 1000 range and undectable vl.  He can barely tell me what his meds are.  Years ago I stopped trying to discuss HIV with him because he doesn't care and is as ignorant as your typical unaffected Jean Q. Citizen.  Look at the membership of this forum.   Subtract the delusional worried-wells and our ranks don't do justice to the number of poz people in the Interweb world.  A great number of them don't care or don't want to be bothered, especially since it's common knowledge HIV infection is no worse than a flu bug (except it lasts a lifetime and chemotherapy does too, inconsequential trade-offs indeed).

Sigh... sounds like somebody needs to switch to decaffeinated.  Anyway, a title such as "I'm 19 years old and living with HIV" is much more believable... and is true.  That he is dying is not unless one goes by that trite saying that living is killing us.

Pretend I came screaming into a room saying my car was totaled and I was almost killed, but, when questioned, really what happened is that somebody bumped their car door against mine in a parking lot.  Would you think I was being dramatic?  How about dishonest?  Should I not expect to be questioned the next time I make such a claim?

I don't need to see his medical records, nor did I ask for them.  The fact that he can't pick up a bottle (or two or three) and look at them, considering that he's possibly been on them for two years max, is odd to me, but I didn't say that until just now.  Since you brought it up... I imagine your friend diagnosed from in the mid 90's has been on a few regimens.  It's not unlikely that there have been some drugs that have been in one or more regimens.  Still, I'd expect more from somebody who was going to the effort to make such a personal video and post it to YouTube.  I'd expect questions.  I'd give answers as best as I could.  I'd also be a bit more straightforward about the whole thing, but that's just me.

I'm sure the little boy will talk about his lab numbers once he's gleaned a trite storyline about it all from reading some signature lines on this web forum.  I still can't get over how naive some folks are.  And people wonder why it is they get steam rolled by crafty queens.

I can't get over how many times some people need to share their adulation of large dicked morons even though no one gives a shit.

Of course you never get taken by crafty queens.   People who come from money and still have Mom and Dad to lean on are usually such tightasses they shit diamonds.   ;D

No, it's because my best friend from around the age of 8 was the ultimate crafty queen, even though he didn't come out of the closet until five years ago and after having three children.  That exposure and apprenticeship led me to become a crafty queen by the age of 14, and by my freshman year in college I was leading seminars in craftiness for other cock suckers.  By the age of 23 I was able to hang with the House of Xtravaganza and not get suckered into buying their coke.

good job guys

Why good job?  I wasn't the person who infected him.  It was his decision to post in a nonmoderated forum if you will.  Is his story real?  Are there some parts he embellished on for added effect?  I'm usually good at telling a liar, but she has to have her hand in my pocket first, so I don't know about this dude..

If he scares one fellow 19 year old into making responsible safe decisions during sex, then more power to him.  In my opinion it takes a lot of balls to post a video announcing to the world that you are HIV+, and the guy is far from stupid.  I believe he is pos however, when I was listening to his video he kind of gave me the impression of someone who was just recently diagnosed.  I know this is purely conjecture on my part, but  perhaps this is his way of dealing with it.

I'm sorry.  I watched another 10 seconds of the new "I am not a fake" video clip and as soon as I see that semi-trance like repetitive editing and the way he modulates his voice the whole thing reeks of performance art in a freshman art foundation course.

I bet he's majoring in something like "Sculpture & Extended Media" with an emphasis on the later.

Oh, and I enjoyed this from someone in the comments section:

I go on the forums you mentioned just about everyday and read through the post. Those people on there (for the most part) are depressed and oppressed. Some of them can get really nasty and rude at times. But what do you expect from a miserable person on long term disability at the age of 40 with nothing to look forward to but failing health? I know some of you forum people are gonna read this. I'm already hated on there so it's ok.

Wow Etay, good job of endearing yourself to the group here. You dont have the stones to say it here on AIDSMeds but yet you go to YouTube and spread this filthy trash talk. Your insufferable. And through it all you have the nerve to want to go to the gathering in Las Vegas but have reservations that you will not be accepted? Your DAMN right you wont be accepted. Its comments like these that make people dislike you, immensely

Willywump, maybe I had a reason for saying what I said. If I was afraid of you seeing it, I wouldn't have posted it on the comments. I would have sent an email like so many on here have done to me. Some of you guys can get pretty nasty in email letters. It is what it is, I guess. The funny thing is, those that hate me the most on here are the sickest!  I read the LTS forum. I know what's going on. I'm only 3 years shy of being an LTS myself. I was diagnosed in '99. (not before '96) like the rules imply. I know I would be accepted on here if I were on meds. Or if I were sick. I guess we'll just have to wait til it catches up to me I guess. In the meantime, I'm going out to enjoy a sunny day in NJ.

That's some jacked up shit right there, so because we don't agree with his way of treating his declining health as portrayed by his numbers we must hate him...Whether you know it Etay you have been accepted here, and it has nothing to do with your decisions regarding treatment, that is not a criteria my friend.   What you have mistaken for hatred was merely advice given by those who are worried about you.   Many here have shown great concern for you Etay and this is your response to those folks.   Etay, drive your truck to the promise land my friend and say hi to the guy at the gate for me.  From day one I said it, you are a denialist....  plain and simple!

I hope you get sunburn.
I despise the song Love is in the Air, you should too.

Etay,

your missing a very big point here.

"But what do you expect from a miserable person on long term disability at the age of 40 with nothing to look forward to but failing health?"

You may have a problem with a few people on here, but think about all the people you've just insulted. There are people who are on disability because they are affected by HIv in a very negative way physically, and to say that they have nothing to look forward to but failing health is extremely offensive. Do they not ahve the same rights as you to pursue health and happiness? Are they no less a person than you?

"Those people on there (for the most part) are depressed and oppressed."

It seems you jsut painted the majority of us on here as "oppressed and deppressed" please cite your examples of me, or anyone on here (in an amount that would make it a majority) being oppressed and depressed. If you cannot I would ask that you retract that statement here and now in this forum.

I understand there may be peope on here you do not like, but  do not label it as a  "majority" being depressed and oppressed.

Willywump, maybe I had a reason for saying what I said.

I, among others, rethought my stance on your situation and extended my hand to you:

I fiind it hard to continue doing so in light of your insensitive comments.

Etay , Many people have taken the time to respond to your post and threads in a caring way . Its not you people dislike , its your message that its OK to walk around 70 tcells and be healthy that's the problem . Its a deadly message to those on the fence that have been advised across the board from they're ID docs and the hundreds of years of collective wisdom you choose to ignore . I'm 48 and Lt's that is not depressed and leading a great long life .

If you're going to trash people at least have the decency to do it to their faces.  I don't give a shit about you or your health and hope you live a nice long self-satisfied life like Christine Maggiore.

You regularly select bits from others' posts to distort them to somehow fit your delusional beliefs but no one is swayed.  I've said before you may be the 1 lucky bastard in 1,000,000 who lives for years on -54 t cells but your hubris is simply begging Fortuna for a comeuppance.  If you're doing so well what do you need this forum for?  Wouldn't AIDSmyss or FansOfDuesberg be more hospitable?

I try very hard to live by a rule of assuming people to be in good faith until overwhelming evidence to the contrary is presented.  However, with this youth, my "nonsense radar" is screaming.  He seems constantly to be suppressing a smile.  He uses lots of cute little expressions that someone genuinely upset would not be using.  So, if you're reading this, and you are for real, I'm sorry, but the whole thing seems highly fake to me.

One sign for me is my own inability, the whole time I listen to these videos, to get this: http://www.poz.com/articles/hiv_intentional_claim_woman_1_17872.shtml out of my mind.

Having said that, there is a much bigger issue for me than whether this is real or not.  I've gotten into debates on the subject twice before here, but I'm sick to death of everything that feeds panic and hysteria and fear.  Forget the fact that of the three foreign countries I've lived two wouldn't even let me set foot on their soil today and the third would deny me a work or a study visa--that's three former homes from which I am excluded.  Forget the nice educated man I met at a party about a year ago who was practically begging me to come home with him--until I mentioned that I had HIV, at which point he virtually flew across the room in panic.  Read the "Am I Infected" forum.  We can laugh at the preposterous questions and the atrocious grammar, but these are regular people whose lives are being ruined by terror.  In China it's become a social problem--people convinced they have HIV and are dying even though they test negative again and again.  Then read the "I Just Tested Poz" and the "Someone I Care About" forums.  How many people show up there terrified and miserable because of the news they just got?  All of these people are needlessly being made misterable by this pointless hysteria.  So I'm sorry, the "If only one 19-year-old is scared into safe sex" argument is one I reject.  Terrifying whole populations and ruining lives is far too high a price to pay.

We need all the truth and information we can get.  Absolutely, I am not calling for painting a rose-colored picture of life with HIV.  If this guy is really suffering, let's find out why and help him deal with it.  But if he's just getting kicks out of coughing away and moaning about AIDS, for fun--then he's contributing to the misery of millions of people.  And even if it is all true, we have the right to demand specifics!  Someone who explains exactly what happened to these friends who "withered away", and who explains precisely why he feels horrible, would be increasing knowledge; someone who merely goes on vaguely about these things, as he does, is increasing nothing but the fog of rumor.

Interestingly, this guy is in some ways the anti-Etay.  Etay is spreading the message that although he has HIV--indeed AIDS--he is the picture of health and feels great.  This young man, by contrast, is reliving 1987 and making HIV sound like something slightly more macabre than leprosy.  That he claims to be taking meds and feeling horrible, while Etay without meds has never felt better, is only a final irony.

And by the way, on the subject of Etay, can we all please call a truce?  When Etay first appeared here there were, I think, three people repeatedly calling for him to be banned.  Can you be surprised if he's less that thrilled about this forum?  And yet he came here, just like everyone else, for some fellowship.  You can hardly blame him for being a bit angry.  And sorry, but everyone has the responsibility to gather information and make decisions for himself.  If I were to get down to 50 t-cells and still be refusing meds, it would be ridiculous for me or for anyone else to blame Etay for the consequences of that decision.

I couldn't care less whether Etay stays or goes. I have to say however that I find his YouTube comment to be rather distasteful, especially since some of those whom he attacked with his words are precisely the ones who have supported him.  I'm just glad that I was never one of them.

The Internet doesn't require for me to be a hypocrite who pretends to like somebody if I don't.

And mr. 19YOWFBAIDS? We have paid him enough attention already. In the meantime he's getting a B- for this Drama 101 community college project.

Care to provide examples of his suppressed smiles and cute diminutive expressions?

Exactly how does one determine what a genuinely upset person says, writes, thinks, does, etc. as opposed to one not genuinely upset?   Neither Emily P. nor Miss Manners describe HIV+ etiquette so I'm truly at a loss.

This person did not enter the forums but was brought here.  What right have you to question him except in his own sphere?  Send him a message or post a comment but allow him to decide where he participates.  While you're at it go after the far more numerous denialists on byoobtube since there can be little doubt about the damage they might and can do.

Etay, since you are monitoring this thread, I will say this.
At first when you came here, I didn't make any judgement about you, and rather liked your spunk and work ethic.
NOW I AM REALLY SORRY I GAVE A FUCK.  YOU ARE QUITE A PIECE OF WORK, INSINUATING THAT BECAUSE I AM 62 AND UNABLE TO WORK THAT I AM A LOOSER.  I CANNOT SAY WHAT I REALLY WANT TO SAY TO YOU PERSONALLY, BECAUSE I AM NOT READY TO GET BANNED BECAUSE OF YOUR OBVIOUSLY IMATURE OUTLOOK ON THE HIV/AIDS POPULATION HERE.  I WILL SIMPLY CLOSE BY WISHING AND PRAYING THAT YOU RECEIVE ALL YOU TRULY DESERVE!!!  EVERYTHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This doesn't mean that God doesn't love heterosexuals,
It's just that they need more supervision.

I am trying to understand. why there are so many pauses. in the video. he has posted.  It comes across. as contrived.

I could also care less what people care to say on Youtube or any other forum besides this one.  Maybe he is lying, maybe he isn't.  Who cares?

I still don't know why we entertain Etay on these forums.  He brings nothing but negativity to the forum and now has called us out as "old, disabed, and have nothing but bad health to look forward to".  He is a denialist who dances around here playing a game.

Can I start posting in Am I Infected?  The nasty, petty remarks in this thread would get the posters banned but you cabal members have great fun at this stranger's expense.   It seems this kid's use of "full blown AIDS" is his greatest offense, with even a nurse comparing the AIDS patients she tended 10, 15, 20 years ago??  Hasn't time changed the picture in many ways?

No one has presented credible arguments (intuition doesn't count) to support the claim this kid is lying.  A lot of what's been written reads like bullshit the ignorant masses still believe -- he can't have AIDS because he looks healthy; he's lying because he won't name his meds or describe his illnesses; he can't possibly have experienced AIDS deaths at 19.  His eyes are too shiny.

Do you talk to uninfected friends about your meds?  I don't.  They don't know what abacavir sulfate or 3TC are and even AZT is a foreign word.   How many of your friends can tell you what PCP, MAC, KS, or whatever are?   More important, how many want to hear about your OIs in that much detail?  Maybe mine are less caring than yours but I rarely go into more detail than needed to describe my status.  How many times have you had to explain CD4 counts and viral loads to uninfected people?  I don't care what drugs my friend takes for hypertension as long as her condition is under control.   Listing drugs, blood work, infections and the lot means zilch to many if not most.

Do I have to say something disparaging to get in on the youtube action?  I notice he didn't bother to mention all the rest of us who said "Well maybe he's just doing well despite his diagnosis".  I think the drama queen label applies.

I'd hit it.

Do I have to say something disparaging to get in on the youtube action?  I notice he didn't bother to mention all the rest of us who said "Well maybe he's just doing well despite his diagnosis".  I think the drama queen label applies.

Same thing I was thinking...  well except for the "I'd hit it" part. :D  I'd smoke a blunt with him though....

Go buy yourself some $300 pants.

LMAO reminds me of the time people here gave someone a hard time for using the blender that was given to them at the local foodbank to make strawberry daiquiris...

....So I put my hands up,
they're playing my song,
and the butterflies fly away.

Nodding my head like "yeah".
Moving my hips like "yeah".

So I put my hands up,
they're playing my song,
and I know I'm gonna be OK.

I don't know, maybe im wrong in my thinking, but if this guy is going to put himself out there in the manner that he  does " I ahve AIDS" "Im dying" etc... then he should expect to get questioned about his meds and his AIDS staus.

Does he have to disclose his numbers or meds? No. however it seems it might add more substance to his posts, and perhaps educate and spread the word by doing so.

Come on guys, let's put this one to rest, before everyone's officially at each other's throats. I think everyone's said what needs to be said about this guy -- let's move on.

I actually agree. Hence the ubiquitous singing.

I don't think that I could care less about this person or his videos. Maybe it's an outlet for him. The funny thing about youtube is that the 'fame' isn't even 15 seconds, really.

so are you implying that this guy is trying to educate uninfected people by NOT talking about meds and OIs??  or explaining cd4 and VL?  ???

By not explaining those issues in his own life, he's able to dramatize his situation with his "I'm dying" spiel. No matter what he said in his "rebuttal" video, after seeing the deaths of my friends, I don't believe it's ever appropriate to joke about dying - unless it's really happening.

My friends frequently ask and keep tabs on my lab results. As a speaker for my ASO, and in personal talks with people after the ASO presentations, about myself having HIV, I believe that I have always explained the meaning of cd4, vl, and the OIs. The uninfected really need that information to understand how HIV affects a body and how it's treated. Plenty of people understand hypertension or diabetes because those are much more common illnesses than HIV. My 93 grandmother (and her friends) understand hypertension; but after my explanations about HIV and it's treatment, even grandmother understands the cd4 and VL concepts now.

seems as I look through sig lines here, that plenty of people here talk/write about those issues too, especially since it helps explain part of those people's history with HIV by seeing their numbers, meds, and various OIs listed.
