Yes, I just got a tweet from someone 20 minutes ago about this and am now reading the news reports.  How shocking.  I fondly remember running into him several times in London about a decade ago when I was much younger, as was he.  I have several items by him, one of my favorite being this long black nylon winter trench coat and another being a dark red Nehru syle uniform.  Oh, and then there's the silver waxed denim ensemble... very "very"!  Plus they're all from his '99-'01 heyday.

I hadn't heard of him either, so I looked him up.

He designed women's clothing and, apparently, was well thought of by Sarah Jessica Parker.

It was an apparent suicide, His first name was Lee.

That's all I know.

HUGS,

He designed for men too.. I bought a T-shirt from his main store in London on Old Bond Street last year. Couldn't resist though I usually don't spend that much on cloths, especially "designer t-shirt".

It seems the suicide was triggered by his mother's death,.. sad...

PS - searched the wed quickly and found it.. that's what I bought..

I love this forum cause its not just queens in the know.  McQueen was a really big deal, so now you know!

Hey, nice t-shirt.  The menswears had been around a year or two.

I wished I were lady just to wear a few of his wild creations.

As for the dirt, I tried googling to find the identity of his mysterious lover, a gay porn actor "Stag", and got the barebacker Paul Stag who doesn't completely resemble the grieving man in the british photos but who was Mr. Leather UK and an escort in London.

So I googled them both and yes: here is are Mr. Stags kind words

But maybe there is a HIV backstory?

Good interview with McQueen from 1997 when his career was beginning to get quite huge at only the age of 28.
