Hurricane Panic
« on: August 23, 2006, 07:34:55 am »
At the start of the local 10 o'clock news,in Houston, Sunday night they were frothing over a hurricane in the Atlantic. At 10:28 they finally got to the Hurricane and told us it wasn't a Hurricane yet and was 5400 miles from Houston, and in fact it wasn't even headed for Houston, but it would probably be a good time to stock up on supplies anyways. I am lucky and still stocked up on water and batteries from the last false alarm.
And people wonder why so many people failed to evacuate from last years storms.

You know Jakey, I find this funny. In both a creepy and a "ha-ha" way.

Texas and the rest of the south of the US is supposedly filled with God's Chosen People, yet He seems to pour horrible vengeance down on "y'all". Remember Katrina? We were all so worried that you'd be flushed out into the Gulf of Mexico with the rest of the trash. Maybe you should stop voting Republican and executing retards.

Compassion doesn't seem to do Vermont any harm.

Same with Indonesia, the most populous Muslim nation on earth. Their Imams are always lecturing Australia for being a wicked, sinful nation of sluts and sodomites. I wonder why Allah sends the tsunamis their way?

I just saw the tracking map for "Dianna"... doesn't look like Texas, Florida or any of the Gulf states have too much to worry about this time.   8)

PS -- Still doesn't hurt to keep stocked up on the wine and beer, though.   ;)

Hey Jack.........

I suspect after last year's hurricane season...one could expect a certain amount of panic among
those living along the Gulf coast.  Of course hurricanes strike the east coast and the west coast and even Hawaii....so I guess God's not just picking on us, huh?  Being prepared does have it's rewards...but when the gathering storm is that far away...it seems silly to try and predict where it will reach land fall.

Regional bashing...its an ugly thing.  One should consider one's own "natural disasters" in their country before climbing up on a soap box and spewing their bigotry across the open internet relating a natural occuring disaster to one's religious, political or social climate.  If I'm not wrong I believe those folks down under have their hands full with floods, fires, droughts and cyclones.  Not to mention an earthquake or two.  And where is that big whole in the ozone....?

Gee David, passive-agressive is such a pretty colour on you.

And where is that big whole in the ozone....?

It's over Antarctica I believe. But hell, it all starts with "A" doesn't it? And it's a "hole" not a "whole" babe. As for earthquakes, they're very uncommon down here. The last major earthquake we had was in 1989. It hit a city called Newcastle.

Did several million dollars worth of improvements as I recall.

Why thank you for the corrections Matty dear....I didn't think you were speaking to me.  Such a big mature man that you are..........and what about the bigotry part.  I didn't hear you DEFEND that one...  Kinda like preaching on the importance of safe sex and then sharing needles with your pals.    Yeah...but I'm just an ignorant country hick.  What's your excuse?

And Yes I love colors...especially the GAY ones!

I think it's funny that a gay man who is a huge fan of the Left Behind series calls other people bigots.

No wonder you're alone dear. Now have another drink. ;)

HIV is certainly character-building. It's made me see all of the shallow things we cling to, like ego and vanity. Of course, I'd rather have a few more T-cells and a little less character. Randy Shilts

Oh Matty...

And now you're attacking what I read?  And I suppose my faith as well?   Perhaps you'll do another one of your disappearing acts and show us how "intelligent" people get attention.  Your bad boy antics might get you the attention you so desperately need over there...and here on this forum...but down here in Mississippi and Alabama...ACTION SPEAK LOUDER THAN WORDS.  And for your infomation my dear bi-polar friend...I have a boyfriend...and he thinks I oughta pray for you.  I think he's right.  Good Luck, Matty!
