mal,

As Rodney says, you are conclusively hiv negative. You tested at the correct time.

As a properly used and stored condom rarely breaks, please read through all three condom and lube links in my signature so you can use them with confidence.

Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, correctly and consistently, and you will avoid hiv infection. It really is that simple!

I do not understand, most doctors say 6 months.

"(Check the archives!) These would recommend testing at both three and six months after exposure."

Dr. Bob

"The test that should be performed is a standard HIV serology: at baseline, at 3 months, and at 6 months. The PCR test (DNA or RNA) should be considered if there are symptoms of the acute retroviral syndrome.''

Why bother asking us what we think if you're just going to come back and tell us what you have gotten on another site? How many opinions do you need.

With the accuracy of all generations of tests today, getting a negative result at 13 weeks after having completed PEP is a completely reliable result.

Period.

I have searched several sources and you are the only one who speaks in 16 weeks (13 weeks after pep). I want to believe in you. I hope you're right.

I don't know where you get the 16 weeks number. We always say 13 weeks AFTER the completion of PEP. If PEP is not involved, then 13 weeks after the risky incident.

The only exceptions for testing out to 6 months are when extensive IV drug use has been involved, organ transplant or treatment for an illness such as cancer, which can sometimes depress the immune system and delay a reliable result.

Mal,

You were never likely to become infected following a condom break to begin with. With your testing history, there's NO way you are hiv positive. Get used to it. Keep posting about this low-risk, conclusive negative situation and you'll be quickly timed out. Don't know what I'm talking about? Then read the Welcome Thread before posting like you're supposed to.

You had a very, very, low risk, for which you should not have even been prescribed PEP. You have tested hiv negative at the appropriate time for a person taking PEP. You do NOT have hiv. You are conclusively hiv negative. End of story.

It's time you got on with your life.

In many countries 12 weeks is equivalent to 13 weeks as a conclusive testing point. You are HIV negative. Period. Cut out the drama and get on with your life.

You'll just collect another negative result. That's fine if you need that to let go of this concern and move on with your life.

Cheers.

Mal,

Please help you? Help you with what? You don't have hiv. You don't need our help. I wish I had CD4 counts like yours. Sheesh.

I'm giving you that time out you've been warned about. Do not attempt to create a new account to get around your time out because if you do, you will be permanently banned.

Mal,

We've told you repeatedly that you don't have hiv. You are conclusively hiv negative.

If you insist on going on and on about this, you will be given a second time out that will last for 56 days. PLEASE CONSIDER YOURSELF WARNED!
