Your favorite TV commercial of the decade?
« on: December 30, 2009, 12:47:26 PM »
What's your favorite TV commercial this past decade? Mine has to be the Budweiser 911 tribute with the Clydesdale's bowing to the Twin Towers

Find a guy who calls you handsome instead of hot, who calls you back when you hang up on him, who will lie under the stars and listen to your heartbeat or will stay awake just to watch you sleep. Wait for the guy who kisses your forehead, who wants to show you off to the world when you're in sweats, who holds your hand in front of his friends and is constantly reminding you of how much he cares and how lucky he is to have you. He's the guy who turns to his friends and says, 'That's The One!'

This is one of my favorites. Great special effects with an existential theme. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uu8456pVSLI

I watch a lot of home improvement shows and with the gingerbread and stop motion this commercial is really cute. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ex3dGPYz7aw

I was in advertising for about 20 years or so.  From this experience, I have a :30 and a :60 second attentionspan.

There was a series of spots run by IKEA on the East Coast (only) featuring a gay couple choosing the furniture and it was groundbreaking in it's day.  The same spots were considered too progressive by the IKEA store for West Coast viewings as they considered their stores too new in California.   ;D  Have the best day
Michael

I was thinking the most powerful advertising campaign in my lifetime is the Burger King, "Wheres the beef"  They hit the largest demographic and have been remembered for over 30 years.. Everyone wished they thought of that.

with my carefully honed and trained TV watching patterns ::),
I like the last commercial I can remember, and that would be the last commercial I saw,
so I like the "Avatar" commercial  ;D

however the secret santa in the Belks dpt stores commercial was pretty hot, so I still remember him

Oh my friends, my friends forgive me
That I live and you are gone.
There's a grief that can't be spoken.
There's a pain goes on and on.
Empty chairs at empty tables
Where my friends will meet no more.

This is one of my all time favorites.  I think it's shot in Germany.

Maybe that is why I got to interview for Ogilvie Mather and Ketchum Worldwide in their Los Angeles offices but was not selected to represent either Tova Cosmetics or Acura.
