Worried about shaving cut!
« on: January 02, 2010, 04:05:18 PM »
hi guys!

About three weeks ago I had protected sex with a female friend it didn't last long but i'm worried because the night before i cut myself shaving with a trimmer at the base of my penis now i did wear a condom but i don't think the cut was covered. What are my chances if vaginal secretions come in contact with the cut?

Ross, HIV is a fragile virus which requires specifically the kind of receptive setting provided by the vagina or the anus during unprotected INTERCOURSE. It is not transmitted through vaginal fluids dripping on to you outside of the vagina, even if you have nicks, cuts or other such things which happen in the genital area.

You're worrying needlessly. There is no need for testing. Just keep using a condom everytime and you will be well protected from sexual transmission of HIV.

Cheers.

Sorry to bother you guys again. What do other sites mean when they say tiny cuts and open cuts or sore and hiv transmission!

Don't care what other sites say. We make sure we give out the correct information. You had no risk.

Ross, I can absolutely guarantee that you will find sources to feed your worst fears if you contine to surf the web with your concern. All to no good purpose of course. We've given you the real deal. You can believe it or not.

You did not have any risk for HIV transmission. Period.

There's no need for testing but if you're going to get on the very slippery slope of what ifs, you can always get tested and collect the inevitable negative result. Just a waste of money and resources, but that is up to you.

Cheers.

Hey guys my anxiety is killing me!
Does a cut have to be bleeding in order for there to be a chance of transmission?

Ross,

If you had a deep enough cut on your genitals to be of any risk for hiv infection, believe me, you would have been at your nearest hospital emergency room asking for a sedative, pain-killers and stitches, not out having intercourse.

You didn't have a risk. Keep using condoms and you won't have a risk in future either. It really is that simple!

Guys I'm sorry to bother you again!

Even if my cut at the base of the penis touched her vagina there would still be no risk? And i have got a rash or a couple of red spots on my chest that's freaking me out.

Anyone who continues to post excessively, questioning a conclusive negative result or no-risk situation, will be subject to a four week Time Out (a temporary ban from the Forums). If you continue to post excessively after one Time Out, you may be given a second Time Out which will last eight weeks. There is no third Time Out - it is a permanent ban. The purpose of a Time Out is to encourage you to seek the face-to-face help we cannot provide on this forum.

You had no risk for HIV transmission. Yah, we got all the details. Still no risk.

But you are at risk for a 28 day Time Out if you keep coming back about this same non-risk incident.

Read the lesson on Transmission. There's a link to it in the Welcome thread which opens this section.

No risk. No need to worry or get tested. That rash and the rest have nothing to do with HIV. Period.

Before anything I just want to say thank you to you guys for all your answers and support!

I promise this is the last time i'll ask about this topic.

On the body everyone who has had a similar risk to mine has been told there is a risk by Dr francino why would that be?
And it's not that I don't believe you guys but I just want to be certain.

Thank you guys so much for everything!

We've told you our opinion. No risk. Go looking elsewhere if you aren't satisfied here. What we've told you is grounded in HIV science. If you come back about this same concern again you are going to get Timed Out.

Consider yourself warned.

Hey guys I just had one question on testing.

Given my situation do you guys think a six week test would be conclusive for me?

It would be conclusive because you were not at risk of HIV infection in the first place. You don't have HIV, friend.

We don't discuss symptoms Ross as they are no indicator of HIV status. We've explained to you that you were not at risk.

You don't have HIV.

I have one more question is the reason that I have no risk because the cut would have healed from within and had a new layer of skin? And also it's been 7 weeks can I get a test at 8 weeks and be done with this? I need to get on with my life!

If you continue to come back here about this non-risk incident you are going to get a 28 day Time Out from the site. We've told you there is no cause for concern. End of story. Period.

Yes. Cervico-vaginal fluid contains larger quantities of the virus than fluids produced further down in the vaginal.

Ross,

You're not listening to us.

YOU WERE NOT AT RISK. Your test will be conclusive no matter when you take it. The window period applies only to those who had a risk in the first place.

Hey guys i'm going to get tested this week. My concern is i'm getting the same feeling of lymph node swelling that I got at the 4 week mark is that consistent with ars or would that make it something different? It's in the neck armpit and behind my knee. Thank you!

You are HIV negative. You never needed to test in the first place because nothing you did put you at risk. And no, you don't need to re-test at 6 months.

I'm giving you the 28 day Time Out you have been warned about. Don't make the mistake of creating another name to avoid the ban. We'll spot that right off and it will get you permanently banned from the site.

Stop with the obsessive drama and get on with your life. You are HIV negative.
