My boyfriend has died
« on: September 22, 2009, 08:21:44 AM »
Today I will bury my boyfriend of 7 years…he committed suicide Saturday…he battled with addiction to alcohol and pain medications….he had been in and out of rehab so many times…and just got out a couple of weeks ago….and once again we all hoped that this time he would beat his addiction…he really had a strong support system…but just not strong enough…

He was just 25 years old….with his whole life ahead of him…a 6 year old son who idolized him….and who found him Saturday as he went to wake him up for breakfast at his parents home…

I spoke with him Friday…and we made plans for Sunday to go out after his son went home…he was in great spirits…looking forward to the weekend with his son…I got a text message late Friday saying “I love you”…it must have been as he was taking all the pills…

I will lay him to rest today

Dad, my God.  I am so, so sorry.  I know there are no magic words, but please know I'm thinking about you.  Addiction is a tricky thing.  I'm just saddened that he chose to end his life, but I try to remember how desperate someone who actually does that must feel, rather than judging them.

I'll definitely keep you in my thoughts, and his young son.  What a horrible memory.  Maybe his last text to you will offer some solace.

In sadness,
  Betty :'(
