HOW RISKY IS THIS? Please help me.
« on: August 17, 2006, 03:56:08 PM »
Please help me.  I am a BI Male, 30, who experimented last year with a guy.  I met a nice guy on the internet and he came over.  I asked him if he was NEG; he said over and over yes. I let him perform oral on me,and I inserted myself into his rectrum with a condom and plenty of lube for a few seconds.  We stopped.  I went to the bathroom to make sure the condom hadn't broke -- it was fine.  I never saw him again until last nite, I notived his profile said he was POZ all of a sudden, and said he was poz for a year (around when he came to see me).

I never got tested.  I am really scared.  I have no symptoms; is this a RISKY incident?  This is the first time I saw your site.  Can you please, please help me?  I may have inserted myself into a poz guy for a few seconds WITH a condom and plenty of lube (and the condom didn't break) -- is that risky???

No risk at all. You had protected anal sex with plenty of lube and receiving a bj is not a risk. Just continue to use the condoms for your anal and vaginal sex and the lube and keep enjoying your sex life. You might want to take time while you're here and read the "Welcome Thread."

Very,

Is this the only guy you've been with? Because while nothing you did was risky, you need to assume ANYONE you have anal or vaginal intercourse with is hiv positive - not freak out a year later if you find out they are positive.

You did the right thing and used condom with plenty of lube. It stayed intact and this means you didn't have a risk. Condoms have been proven to be very effective in preventing hiv transmission. Check out the condom and lube links in my signature line for more condom info.

Getting a blowjob is NOT a risk.

Please read through the Welcome Thread and follow the links to the Transmission Lesson.

While you do not need to test over this specific incident, you need to know that regular STI testing is a must for the sexual active adult.

Anyone who is sexually active should be having a full sexual health care check-up, including but not limited to hiv testing, at least once a year and more often if unprotected intercourse occurs.

If you aren't already having regular, routine check-ups, now is the time to start. As long as you make sure condoms are being used for intercourse, you can fully expect your routine hiv tests to return with negative results. Don't forget to always get checked for all the other sexually transmitted infections as well, because they are MUCH easier to transmit than hiv.

GUN OIL
« Reply #4 on: August 17, 2006, 10:09:16 PM »
May I ask -- everyone is telling me to use water-based lube, not oil based lube, but I use a lube called 'Gun Oil' -- it's NOT oil-based, it's silicon based and it says it's condom safe.  Is that true???  Anyone?

Yes, any water based lube that says condom safe, IS INDEED CONDOM SAFE.  However I suspect you knew that and really you're still worried about this encounter despite the correct assessments you've been given - ie) you were not at risk.

While you don't need to test over this specific incident, you state that you've never tested? Maybe it's time to test so you can put all of this behind you and stop being scared.???  Just a thought.

Very scared, you need to realize this fear is psychological.  There's an interesting article on the "worried well" which is published by someone at "The Body"

Have a look and see if this sounds more like your problem than any risk of HIV.

Very,

Andy isn't around at the moment. See the top thread in this forum.

If you'd read through the condom and lube links in my signature line like I asked you to, you would know that silicone lube is ok for latex condoms. Click on the condom and lube links in my signature line and get reading!

I mean, I am scared -- I inserted myself into a HIV+ guy ------- I know, I used a condom and lube and it didn't break -- but isnt it really no risk as long as the condom remained in tact?

Very,

It's true. Because you used a condom and lubricant and the condom remained in tact there is no risk of HIV transmission. You don't need to fret about this.

very,

There are hundreds of thousands of serodiscordant couples all around the world who protect the negative partner's status by using condoms. If you'd read the links in the Welcome Thread like I'd asked you to, you would have read about the serodiscordant studies where in the couples who used condoms for intercourse, not one negative partner became postive. One of the studies ran for ten years.

Please go read through the links I've directed you to, everything you need to know is there.

I've been in a serodiscordant relationship for seven years - I'm positive and he's still negative. Condoms work. Keep using them and it won't matter if your partner is positive or negative. It's that simple.

Now get reading!!!

You didn't have a risk.

Last night, I wanted to top a guy and I did.  I used a condom and pletny of lube.  When we were finished, I took the condom into the bathroom and made sure it was in tact; it was.  (This is stupid, but I even filled it up with water -- I didn't ejaculate -- and nothing leaked.  It was completely in tact and dry.)  The guy told me today he liked and that he was poz.

Did I have any risk????

Please let me know. I am soooo scared.  I am just scared.

Very,

I've merged your new thread into your original thread - where you should post all your additional thoughts or questions. It helps us to help you when you keep all your additional thoughts or questions in one thread.

If you need help finding your thread when you come here, click on the "Show own posts" link under your name in the left-hand column of any forum page.

Please also read through the Welcome Thread so you can familiarize yourself with our Forum Posting Guidelines. Thank you for your cooperation.

Yours is a perfect example of why we ask people to remain in their original threads. You've come back here nearly three years after your last freak-out to ask the same basic question - "is protected intercourse a risk?"

Our answer is the same as it was three years ago.

NO. Condoms have been proven to prevent hiv infection. I hope you're using them with ANYONE you have anal or vaginal intercourse with.

Re-read your entire thread.
