Still worried in NY
« on: August 14, 2006, 09:08:45 AM »
Hello everyone,

I've done quite a bit of reading on these forums and that has calmed my fears and worries tremendously. Thanks to all for straight answers and honest talk that is not available anywhere else.

Anyway... Has an encounter with an escort back in early April and heres what happened:

Fingered her briefly for 30 seconds or so (no blood, no cuts or scrapes on my hands or fingers)

She gave me oral (no condom) for 2-3 minutes

Intercourse WITH a condom..

She gave me a handjob until I climaxed.

I'm 99.999999% sure there is no risk here after much reading and research but would like confirmation for to out my paranoia to rest! Thanks again

paranoid,

You did the right thing, you used a condom for intercourse. Condoms have been proven to be very effective when it comes to hiv prevention. You did NOT have a risk in any of the other activities you engaged in either. Fingering, no risk. Getting a blowjob, no risk. Getting a handjob, no risk. Using a condom for intercourse, priceless. You did not have a risk.

Just in case you didn't come across my usual spiel in  your forum reading - here it is:

You need to be using condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, every time, no exceptions until such time as you are in a securely monogamous relationship where you have both tested for ALL STIs together. To agree to have unprotected intercourse is to consent to the possibility of being infected with a sexually transmitted infection.

It's not just sex workers you need to use condoms with, it's anyone including the "girl or boy next-door".

Have a look through the condom and lube links in my signature line so you can use condoms with confidence.

Anyone who is sexually active should be having a full sexual health care check-up, including but not limited to hiv testing, at least once a year and more often if unprotected intercourse occurs.

If you aren't already having regular, routine check-ups, now is the time to start. As long as you make sure condoms are being used for intercourse, you can fully expect your routine hiv tests to return with negative results. Don't forget to always get checked for all the other sexually transmitted infections as well, because they are MUCH easier to transmit than hiv.

Please also read through the Welcome Thread and follow the Lesson links for further transmission information.

You did not have a risk. Keep using condoms and you will continue to avoid hiv infection. It really is that simple.

HIV is certainly character-building. It's made me see all of the shallow things we cling to, like ego and vanity. Of course, I'd rather have a few more T-cells and a little less character. Randy Shilts

Thank you so much Ann for the quick response. There is so information out there that is WRONG! Saying that certain activities are risky, even when they are not. You are the REAL DEAL here on this site...REAL people and REAL answers.

Thank you so much and I will end my comments and questions here. No need to continue, for I am certain that my fears have been put to rest.

God Bless,

Thankful in NY
