I am worried and cant sleep
« on: December 16, 2009, 10:47:08 PM »
Hi there
I was in Singapore on the 12th of dec, where i had sexual intercourse with a prostitute in geylang district.Soon after that, the next day i have been having symptoms such as mild fever, sore throat, difficulity in breathing, extreme fatigue, muscle ache, loss of weight, nausea, lack of appetite etc. I went to a doctor for a general check up and he told me its a stomach flu. However i am very worried as i had unprotected oral sex with the prostitute and had used a condom for vaginal intercourse.Although i dont think the condom was of good quality, as it looked like one of those cheap ones. I have been having these symptoms for the pas 4-5 days and i am extremely worried. When is the fastest i can get tested? Is it possible to get STD's and Hiv together? Many thanks in advance for the replies

Listen to your doctor. You never had a risk in the situation you've provided.

Thank you Rapid Dog
Could you please tell me what are the chances of getting Hiv or any other STD from unprotected oral sex and from protected vaginal sex because the condom was defective or not of good quality?

H,

As long as the condom remained intact, you were protected from hiv. A broken condom is very obvious and you would have known if it broke.

Getting a blowjob is absolutely NOT a risk for hiv infection. Not only is saliva not infectious, but it also contains over a dozen different proteins and enzymes that damage hiv and render it unable to infect. It is possible to get other, more easily transmitted STIs from being blown, but as this is an hiv forum, we only discuss hiv here. If you're worried about other STIs, see your doctor.

You need to be using condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, every time, no exceptions until such time as you are in a securely monogamous relationship where you have both tested for ALL sexually transmitted infections together. To agree to have unprotected intercourse is to consent to the possibility of being infected with an STI. Sex without a condom lasts only a matter of minutes, but hiv is forever.

Have a look through all three condom and lube links in my signature line so you can use condoms with confidence.

ALTHOUGH YOU DO NOT NEED TO TEST OVER PROTECTED INTERCOURSE OR GETTING A BLOWJOB, anyone who is sexually active should be having a full sexual health care check-up, including but not limited to hiv testing, at least once a year and more often if unprotected intercourse occurs.

If you aren't already having regular, routine check-ups, now is the time to start. As long as you make sure condoms are being used for intercourse, you can fully expect your routine hiv tests to return with negative results. Don't forget to always get checked for all the other sexually transmitted infections as well, because they are MUCH easier to transmit than hiv.

Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, correctly and consistently, and you will avoid hiv infection. It really is that simple!

You have not had a risk for hiv and you do not need to test.

Thank you Ann
Im pretty sure i did not break but it kept slipping down.I am paranoid only as i am down with fever, extreme fatigue, nausea, lack of appetite, muscle pain, red spots on hand etc. One more question, would the quality of the condom matter, because we used the condom provided by the sex worker.

H,

It doesn't matter if the condom was slipping down. As long as the head of your penis was covered, you were fully protected.

The quality of the condom didn't matter as it didn't break. A sex worker provides condoms for HER protection, not yours, so why would she use low-quality condoms?

You need to stop fretting about hiv. You were not at risk. There are hundreds, if not thousands, of other illnesses that can cause the symptoms you are experiencing. You've been told by your doctor you have an ordinary flu - believe him. You were NOT at risk for hiv infection!

H,

We cannot diagnose you over the internet. Nobody can. You need to show your rash, in person, to a doctor.

H,

Symptoms of ARS, if they happen at all, normally take approximately two weeks to develop. They NEVER come about in 24 hours. Your rash sounds NOTHING like the rash that SOMETIMES accompanies ARS.

You did NOT have a risk for hiv infection. If you read the Welcome Thread before posting like you're supposed to, you will have read the following posting guideline:

Quote

Anyone who continues to post excessively, questioning a conclusive negative result or no-risk situation, will be subject to a four week Time Out (a temporary ban from the Forums). If you continue to post excessively after one Time Out, you may be given a second Time Out which will last eight weeks. There is no third Time Out - it is a permanent ban. The purpose of a Time Out is to encourage you to seek the face-to-face help we cannot provide on this forum.

Please consider yourself warned!

I'ver merged your threads. Please follow our rule and keep all of your entries in this same thread.

This is an HIV specific website. If you have questions about other possible STDs you should be discussing them with your doctor and not self-diagnosing as it appears you are doing about your tongue.

H,

If you had a risk, testing at the two week mark will tell you nothing. However, YOU DID NOT HAVE A RISK. You don't need to test.

I'm giving you that time out you've been warned about. Do not attempt to create a new account to get around your time out because if you do, you will be permanently banned.
