Let's be clear, there is virtually no question in the scientific community that HIV causes AIDS.  The evidence is simply overwhelming.  There's also virtually no question that coinfections speed things along.

Testing people for various other infections is certainly a good idea, but the idea that syphilis causes AIDS is simply crackpottery.

Uh, the owners/moderators of this web site don't smile on the posting of HIV-denialist links.  If you don't wish to get banned then I'd suggest you delete that link.

Um, I hardly think this is a "denialist link", its a feature article in a fairly well-respected, mainstream Canadian magazine... and as a poz person, I think the more discussion, debate and analysis the better...

Looks like a denialist link to me also.

And our guidelines state: "Actions that may result in an immediate and permanent ban include the following:
     1) HIV/AIDS denialists. Any member who posts denialists propaganda Ė including direct links to information produced by denialist entities or language encouraging members to research denialism -- will be banned immediately..."

So then, what in your own words is the "debate" exactly?  All you did was slap up a link.  Why don't you fill us all in on it.

Furthermore, indeed Duesberg and John Scythes are HIV denialists.  Do some simple googling if you doubt this.

You might have had a better argument if the article was balanced. It wasn't. It was simply regurgitating the same old tired, denialist propaganda. We don't allow that here, sorry.

Please don't post more like this - because a ban will result. Please consider yourself warned.

ooh dia! just read this article and am so disappointed and sick with it.
This is no good to any hiver mostly the newly diagonsed coz it keeps someone's fear in the denial blanket hence not seeking proper medical care and what next?...... AIDS ofcourse.

I do think and politely request you not to post up such links for the best interest of many of us who are trying to keep strong and hold other newly infected people in the right direct.

Man oh man, I just posted this link because I saw the article on the newsstand and thought it would be of interest to people, and particularly of interest to people who really know their sh*t and are able to rebut the article's dubious claims... in fact, as someone with little knowledge about so-called HIV denialism at all, I was hoping for a little perspective and insight, not just a rather rude, condascending rebuke. I guess I "consider myself warned", but I must admit I'm a little dissappointed that I have to be so delicate and guarded on a site for us POZ folks (and for me, a fairly naive, newly-infected person who hasn't had a chance to read every post ever posted on this forum) just trying to deal with all the information being bandied about, just trying to understand what's happening to us by sharing our knowldege and resources.
Thanks Ann for the link you posted, that's the kind of response I was looking for...

Guess your intentions were good but some basic lines have to be kept even at a site for Poz folks like us. Many confused, lost and emotionally shaken up guyz turn to here for a word of comfort, guidance and RATIONALITY so I can see why the site rules would forbid exposure to even further confusement that may delay them from seeking proper treatment and perhaps saving their lives..

True, stirring up a good debate is essential for every democratic society, but perhaps this ain't the place for something that so inherently goes against everything we all believe and trust our lives to on a daily basis..
