Is this jail bait in my mailbox?
« on: July 09, 2009, 05:02:25 PM »
My partner and I were rolling over in laughter when we found this neon green flyer in out mailbox. It is from a 13 year old girl who lives down the street.

"Hi, I'm Jenny, the pet sitter for you.
I'll do what you ask and maybe more too!

Walking, grooming, feeding and more.
You'll see what I mean when I get to your door.

I offer other services too,
like gathering mail and watering plants all for you!

The price is reasonable, it's for you to say,
I'm saving up to go to college some day.

From dogs to guinea pigs, I know them all.
For more information just give me a call!"

At the top is a photo of a skinny little girl hold a guinea pig. What the hell were her parents thinking?

Saddest part of this is, there was a time, when that would be called industrious, not a pedophiles dream.
Life is what happens, when you are busy making other plans.

Though you may be only one person in the entire world, to one person, you may be the entire world.

I wish to become half the man, that my dog thinks I am.

Remember me with simple acts of kindness and I will live forever.

I wonder how much time
Jenny spent
on her clever rhymes.

While other kids were off at play
industrious Jenny
was feeding pets, tending plants
or rhyming away.

I admire Jenny's industriousness-
she's saving up for college for Christ's sake-
although I admit her poem
made my head ache.

Jenny is no Sylvia Plath, William Shakespeare or Maya Angelou
I wouldn't hire her to water my plants
but hire her to write more funny poems
yes-that I'd definitely do!

I doubt her parent saw that, or if they did, they are recklass.
Are you wondering what to do, if anything?

I think its very delicate because you don't want to be school marming these parents about something that is none of your business.  Could piss them off at you!

f they never saw it, and you reveal it to them, and the girl gets shit, rather than a loving lesson, then you are on the girls shitlist, and all her friends, boys and girls...

HMMMMM.

Find a little job to offer this girl.  Walk over to her house when you see that parents are around. Introduce yourself and say you got the girls "sweet and industrious" lfyer (take it out of your pocket, make sure it hasent been folder or creeplily handled too much) and offer the little job,  If you feel the right moment, lightly toss off that some people in this day and age might take the poem in the wrong way.  Dont dwell on that comment or get further involved in that issue.   Just stick to the arrangements for the small job.

Maybe she'll be a great helper!

I think it also depends on the neighborhood.  Is this a small community where everyone knows one another? If the family is well known on the block I don't see a problem.

I wonder if Jenny can get rid of these 5 stray cats in my yard that will not leave, one seems to be a female in heat and she likes my yard for some reason.  I also have a 25 year old oak tree in my yard and if lil Jenny can handle a chain saw I got a job for her.

Sorry -- not exactly on message but when I read that line in your post about the girl who lived down the street I just couldn't help myself!   ;D

I don't really know her family and I'm certainly not going to bring it up to them. We just found it amusing that Jenny sent out this flyer that I'm sure she thought was sweet and clever but sounds like a sex offender's dream. It's very John Waters.

I would consider hiring Jenny but we have a friend who takes care of our dogs already. Her husband is on disability and now that her children are grown she is pursuing her dream of being an artist. She loves the dogs and counts on some under the table money.

As for the parents, am I the only one that reads that text and thinks that they're already involved by helping little Jenny write her nursery rhyme poem?

I used to housesit neighbor's pets when I was that age.  I also used to go through all of their private stuff looking for porn.

No you are not....... as I had the same thought yesterday when I read this. What strikes me as odd is how suggestive it reads. Could her parents really be clueless to the amount of child molestations occurring out there?
Perhaps, prescreened receipients before distribution. You know.......only to doors that would be no potential threat to daughter. One can hope this was the case.

Reminds me of when I was in college and had 2 gay roommates. One of my roommates, Tim, had two nephews, ages 13 and 15, who were going to stay with us for a couple of days. Tim had an extensive porn collection and locked it in a trunk in the back of his bedroom. He also took the cables that connected the TV to the VCR and put them in his car. We returned from class to find the boys had cut the lock off the truck, connected the VCR to the TV with coat hangers and were watching staticy gay porn. Rather than being embarrassed they were quite put out that there were no women in the videos.
