Am I infected with HIV from this situation?
« on: July 04, 2009, 07:33:40 AM »
Hello, I have a few questions:
How long does the HIV survive on the scissors?
How long does the HIV survive on the comb?
I'm worry. I'm waiting for your reply. Thank you very much

cun,

Hiv is not transmitted from objects in the environment, including scissors and combs. Hiv is a fragile, difficult to transmit virus. Once it's outside the human body, small changes in temperature, pH and moisture levels all quickly damage the virus and render it unable to infect.

HIV is certainly character-building. It's made me see all of the shallow things we cling to, like ego and vanity. Of course, I'd rather have a few more T-cells and a little less character. Randy Shilts

You've already been told that hiv is NOT transmitted from objects or surfaces in the environment. Re-read your thread. The answers are not going to change.

Your English is not a problem. Just really read what has been said to you. You have not had a risk for HIV.

And you won't have a sexual risk for it as long as you always use condoms for vaginal and anal intercourse. Period.

Is it possible for me to contract HIV from this incidence?
« Reply #8 on: August 14, 2009, 10:33:21 AM »
Is it possible for me to contract HIV from this incidence? (I am sorry, English is not my first language)

Today I have an appointment with a dentist. While performing the diagnosis on my teeth,  the dentist with gloves on took pictures of my teeth with a camera. After that, he proceeded  to operate on my gums and they were bleeding until the point that they made the cotton wools wet with my blood. I am terrifying when thinking about the possibility that I could have contracted HIV transmitting through either the camera (has blood) or the gloves that the dentist has used during my appointment. I am worrying that whether I should take post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP) for this incidence. Please help me.

Con,

Once again, I've merged your threads. STOP STARTING NEW THREADS!!!

You are NOT going to become infected with hiv when visiting the dentist. As you've been told, hiv is NOT transmitted from surfaces or objects in the environment. A camera is an object in the environment. So are gloves.

YOU DO NOT NEED PEP.

As long as you are using condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, you do not need to worry about hiv.

If you read the Welcome Thread before posting like you're supposed to, you will have read the following posting guideline:

Quote
Anyone who continues to post excessively, questioning a conclusive negative result or no-risk situation, will be subject to a four week Time Out (a temporary ban from the Forums). If you continue to post excessively after one Time Out, you may be given a second Time Out which will last eight weeks. There is no third Time Out - it is a permanent ban. The purpose of a Time Out is to encourage you to seek the face-to-face help we cannot provide on this forum.

Please consider yourself warned.

I have one more question:
How long does the HIV survive on the surface of the camera? (if the surface of the camera has a little blood and the surface is not exposed to air)

You're right. That was your last question at least for 28 days. I am giving you the Time Out that Ann warned you about. Don't make the mistake of trying to get around the Time Out by creating a new account. Doing that will get you permanently banned from the site.

You're not listening to what is being said to you. It wouldn't have mattered if the camera or gloves were dripping with blood. HIV is not transmitted from the surfaces of environmental surfaces such as gloves, cameras, doorknobs, food, silverware and such.

Zero risk!

End of story.
