Chicken and egg
« on: April 05, 2009, 01:47:53 PM »

one thing about addiction, or even just drug use, is which came first the chicken or the egg, do people lives suck so they use, or do they use which makes their life suck.

Is this related your post about just not wanting to stick to HAART?
My two cents is that addiction is experienced in time and so it doesn't matter which came first.
Drugs can be fun in anyone's life. Some people can't handle them reasonably so using starts to damage life, why did you use just a bit too much to medicate life that was just a bit too disagreeble.  Back and forth. The original moment is lost in the past, (chicken? egg?).  You just have the present and the future of addiction.  Isnt the nature of an addition that you HAVE to quit for life to get better? You could improve your life and see if the addiction wanes.  Or you could quit the drugs and see if your life improves.  The latter seems somehow more assured.
