Need help
« on: March 03, 2009, 06:58:51 PM »
I am not sure if i am putting this in the right place but i found this site a couple days ago...after driving myself nuts. I am 28 years old and have been with the same man for two years..recently had a pregnancy that ended in misccarige..but that's not the point. For the past three weeks i noticed i have been sweating under my arms alot even when i'm not doing anything and it made me wonder if i could have gotten a disease...i'm very worried and anxious i know i need to test but i'm just thinking their can be no other reason for this to start happening out of the blue. Any advice?

...and if you and your guy are in a securely monogamous relationship and have decided not to use condoms, then the wise thing is to get tested together and confirm your joint negative status. That way neither  has to worry and wonder about HIV.

Sweating under arms occurs for many reasons and like other body symptoms is certainly not something indicative specifically of HIV.

Andy thank you as well..tomorrow is my test date and i am making my partner go with me as well..i am afraid and very nervous but i'm more afraid of the unknown..it matters to me so much to know my status and i'll be damned if any bit of fear is going to come in the way of me knowing for sure..i'm prepared to deal with it one way or the other..but seeing this site was the first time that i let that fear go..and i am so glad to have found it..so i will test tomorrow at a local clinic and try not to pass out from worry. But i know i alone am responsible for my health and that starts with this big step and many more to come. Thank you guy so much. :)

Nothing you have reported thus far leads me to expect other than a negative result.

Good luck with your test and keep us posted.

Any ELISA hiv test can result in a false positive. That's why any positive result is double-checked with another ELISA as well as a Western Blot. If you want to know more about testing, read the Testing Lesson linked to in the Welcome Thread.

False positives don't really happen all that often - although you see a higher percentage of them here than you would in real life. The higher percentage you see here is falsely inflated,  because people don't bother asking questions about a normal negative result or a positive that has been confirmed.  Don't let the possibility of a false positive stop you from testing.

Thanx Ann and trust me when i say...not even god can keep me from my choice in testing..i read so many things on here and as simple as my comment may be and said by so many if more people..everyone were testing..it would save so many lives..there was one place i read a guy he was stressing wether to get tested or not and asked for encouragement and i fully understand that feeling..but you said if you are man enough to have sex you are man enough to get tested that he and he alone was responsible for his health..and pardon my french but so many people need that kick in the ass but i took those words to heart and applied them to myself and for that reason i will not let fear keep me from doing the right thing..i was woman enough and now i will handle the outcome. The thing i took from this site and all of you is that you can't just stop living and allow fear to run your life but that's in every way not just with hiv/aids..i can't say if the outcome is what i fear it won't deeply effect me but life goes on..everybody's days are numbered it's just a matter of when..and some if not all of us take things for granted everyday and what do we do worry..then when we no longer have things to worry about some of us make the same silly mistakes..some of us not givin a choice..i guess my point is and why this is so long is because i'm no longer letting fear of things i'm in control of to have a hold on me..so that is why i have so much appreciation for you all.

Hi Andy...if you are around i just wanted to let you know that all is well and my test came back negative..still find myself asking my sisters and all my friends to come down to the testing site and check their status..think they should know....any way i won't say that i'll never have sex again that would be a joke because i was prepaired to deal with it no matter what the out come but i sure as hell will respect myself enough to make the person i am with respect me and for future try my very best not to make the same mistake twice..condoms are a girl and boys bestfriend. lol thank you for your help and reaching out.
