Possible HIV or WW?
« on: August 05, 2006, 01:35:19 pm »
I'm extremely scared right now.  I've had unprotected insertive oral sex with numerous partners over the last year or so.  I used to be very scared about catching HIV until I came across this site a few years back.  Everyone keps saying there is no risk for insertive oral sex, but now I can't shake this aweful fear...

I was not worrying about catching HIV until I got sick a few weeks back.  I had "classic" ARS symptoms, and as it turned out, I tested positive for strep.  My fears eased off, but I've had strange symptoms for the last week (two weeks since the strep cleared).  I have this strange tingling sensation in my lower torso (stomach and back area).  I waited for shingles or something to appear but it never did.  Now this morning I look at my chest and I see several of what appear to be just small moles but they are mostly flat (that I don't remember seeing before) and I immediately think - "Oh no - what if it's the start of Kaposi's Sarcoma or something".  One of them even appears to be slightly purplish...

I have been tested several times in the last 5 years for HIV, about once per year -- all negative.  My last test was probably 8 months ago or so.

My question is - why do some doctors -- even those who are "up" on the lastes HIV info -- still say that insertive oral carries a slight risk (like doctor Bob from The Body)?  All of the experts on here say "absolutely no risk associated with insertive oral sex for HIV".  Had I known that other doctors were saying there was a slight risk, I never would have had unprotected insertive oral sex.  I just saw all of the comments on here from the "experts" and assumed I was safe!  Perhaps I am and I'm just freaking out.  Could KS come on so quickly?  Could getting strep indicate primary infection or suppressed immune system?  I've read the lessons, but now I'm scared even about the theoretical.  Maybe with so many partners and considering that most people do not just engage in unprotected insertive oral, my risk is not theoretical (that's why my crazy brain keeps thinking anyway)?  It's the only sexual activity besides kissing that I have engaged in...

I guess I'm just looking for loads of reassurance that my numerous blow jobs would not lead to HIV infection.  Please help me out here!  ???

In an abundance of caution to cover their asses.

Yep.

No!

No.  People get strep all the time with perfectly normal immune systems.

Nothing you site is indicative of primary hiv infection.  If your only risk is insertive oral, then you have nothing to worry about.

That said, all sexually active people should have a full panel for all STD's performed once or twice a year as a matter of good personal health care.  Other STD's are much easier to contract than hiv.

Hi,

I would not be concerned about contracting HIV. What I would be concerned about are the other possible STD's that you could contract. Such as :

 1. GONORREAH

 2. CHLAMYDIA

 3. NON-GONOCOCCAL URETHRITTIS

 4. AND QUITE POSSIBLY HERPES.

As was already stated, If you are sexually active, you should have a full STD scan done at least once a year !!

Thank you very much.  Your responses have calmed me down greatly.  I realize now what a doof I was being worried over a non-existent risk.

Thanks again for your replies.
