I would suggest walking in your neighborhood 30 minutes daily,  Increase your water intake and eat lots of vegetables.  That would be a safe and effective start. ;)

Ben -- welcome to our forums!  Glad you found us.

Have you done an intake with your local AIDS service organization?  They might have a nutritionist that could advise you.

Also, you should read our site's nutrition lesson which offers all sorts of helpful advice for us pozzies:

And I agree with the other reply that some sort of daily exercise is a must -- any type will do..  just find something you enjoy.

I think Peter hit it when he recommended a nutritionist.

It is very hard to offer any detailed suggestions because we don't know too much about your situation. A nutritionist could tailor a program just for you based on your needs and abilities.

Is your doc recommending any methods?

As far as being a HIFiver and trying to lose weight, what I would generally recommend is eating a healthy diet that consists of more vegetables and fruits than animal products, but make sure to keep your protein intake up, preferably with lean meats, poultry or fish.

Then, gradually add some exercise to use more calories than you normally do. The suggestion of walking is a very good one. Lots of people go to the malls to walk when the weather is bad. You just have to use your willpower when you see the sale signs. ;)

Another great exercise is swimming. It helps tone the entire body and burns a lot of calories.

These are just broad suggestions, but they work.

HUGS,

Mark
