"'Tis the Season" or "I think I'm Pregnant."
« on: December 19, 2008, 08:43:49 PM »
It is either seasonal depression or pregnancy. I don't know what else could cause it.

The "it" is, of course, cravings for comfort foods.

This past week has been a real trial of my will power. I want to eat things I know I shouldn't.

My cravings are also a bit different. Don't ask me why.

I don't crave sweets. Nope, I crave things that will clog my arteries, but would taste sooooo yummy.

I have wanted liver and onions for a few weeks now. I love liver and onions. I finally caved in, sort of. I had a liverwurst sandwich with onions and mustard a few days ago.

Not exactly liver and onions, but it was better than nothing and better than giving in completely and eating a pound of liver.

I also have been craving barbecued rabbit. Or fried rabbit. I'm versatile.  :D

My coworker had some the other day and, ever since he mentioned it, I have been craving it.

Caviar is another craving I have had for the past few days. I like American golden (I couldn't afford Beluga or Sevruga). But I can't even find that. Only lumpfish.  >:(

Hmmm, sounds like I will need to make a trip to Albuquerque to pick up some better quality caviar and, maybe, some pate'.  ;)

OK, none of the above really fit in my diet. But it is the holiday season, right?

If I can't nosh now, when will I?

HUGS,

Mark

Hubby and I were watching "A Christmas Carol" last night.  In one of the scenes a family is having a party.  The wife walks by her husband with a plate full of meatpies, "pudding", and all sorts of sundry items.  The husband says, "Dear wife, I thought you were on a diet."  She answered, "I am.  I need all of this to get me through it!"

Mark dear, all of those foods you mentioned would keep me on a diet.  But, different tastes for different people.

If you're pregnant, who's the mum (or dad)? :)

There must be something wrong with my SAD.  I don't get food cravings (unless you count that urge to bake bread at midnight last night).  It just messes up my sleep (which is why if you notice I usually post on here between 1-5 a.m.)

Mark,

I get those cravings also !!  ::)   This time of the year is tough for me.  The residents at work often give us boxes of chocolates, fudge, brownies, different types of candies, homemade things, Cakes...
I won't touch the fruitcake though !  ;)  Also, as far as seasonal disorder/depression. I don't have any problems with that.

Anyway, I definitely have some strange cravings at times !   MEAT, and more meat, seems to be my biggest cravings. besides the fried food. I really need to avoid that. Do pretty good at that most of the time. And I do like Liver and onions, or liverwourst, no hankering for rabbit though.  :)

Come to think of it, a nice Buffalo burger sounds good just about now. ( have to think about that later today) With some thin sliced potatos, and creamy coleslaw !

I know I am going to put on at least 5 more pounds before New Years.

If I were given a choice of being pregnant of having this damn disease, I would go with pregnant.  :-\

Of course the caveat would be that it would pop out already litter box trained and hopefully a little girl so I could spoil it year round. ::)

Thanks, Mark.

NOW, all I can think of is Liver and Onions. ......

We had a restaurant nearby that has gone out of business and they made the best take out liver.

I avoid the fruitcake also. It is just for decoration. (Like the bowl of wax fruit)

Hi Betty,

Never had a Buffalo roast. Only the burgers, and they are very lean and filling !! Several restaurants down here serve Buffalo.

By the way, didn't have Buffalo today.  :P    Instead, went to Barnhills Buffet, and pigged out again.  I don't know if they have those restaurants in your area. Mostly in the Southeast, texas also I believe. Pretty good buffets, At least this one is.
