KMF-

You wore a condom and were therefore protected from exposure to HIV, even if either of your partners were positive, and you don't know that for certain.

We don't discuss symptoms here because there are no HIV-specific symptoms, but if you're feeling poorly, make an appointment and see your doctor. While you're there, request a full-panel screen for STDs, not necessarily for this specific encounter, but because anyone responsible enough to have sex needs to be responsible enough to get checked every 4-6 months.

You were smart to wear a condom. You need to stay smart and use a condom every time you have sex outside of a long-term, mutually monogamous relationship and after you've both been tested. And don't forget the lube: lots and lots of water-soluble lube is a must when using a condom.

Good luck-

KMF-

I am well acquainted with the horrors you are describing. Anxiety is a terrible thing, and it feeds on itself until it seems to take over everything unless you regain control.

So take a minute and breathe deeply...yeah, a whole minute.

Then repeat that you couldn't have HIV because you were protected: you wore a condom. Now tell yourself to go to the doctor and get a full-panel STD screen, because you should, not because you have to.

And lastly, you need to focus on something else. Get back into your workouts, keep your movie dates, chill out and focus on the future.

We're here to help with risk assessment and to give information of HIV, and since this isn't an HIV situation, there's not really much more we can do for you.

One last thing: look at the gray horizontal bar near the top of teh screen. Click on the link that says "All About HIV" and educate yourself, bud. You are going to be living in a world where HIV continues to be a real threat for the foreseeable future. You owe it to yourself to get smart on HIV, because living in fear and anxiety just isn't right, nor is it necessary.

The cuts around your pubic area were not a factor for two reasons:

1) They were not open and bleeding while you were having sex;

2) HIV is a very picky virus. It needs special cells to attach itself to a host. These cells are found in the anus, the vagina and the urethra (where you pee). They are not found hiding behind your pubes  ;)

Read up...get smart. Education is the best way to keep yourself safe, because if you know why you need condoms, you'll always use them.

Good luck.

Modified to add: The Prevention section gives you all you need to know about transmission, risks and safer sex in real-life.

No, we don't have chat rooms here. Call GMHC's hotline (212 807 6655) or any AIDS service organization in your area if you want to speak with someone.

Fortunately feelings and fears aren't facts. We've read your reports carefully. The facts of the situation, your fears notwithstanding, tell us that you absolutely were not at risk for HIV. Period. It's very common when becoming sexually active, along with all the exciting stuff, to also be anxious. I suspect that's playing a part in your worrying.

This is not an HIV situation. Really.

Feeling scared is undertstandable.

And if you insist on testing strictly for your peace of mind, and with all of  those non-HIV-related symptoms not meaning a damn, you will for sure test negative.

KM,

The ONLY way to know your hiv status is through hiv antibody testing.

You didn't have a risk - you had protected intercourse. You've been repeatedly told this. If you've read the posting guidelines found in our Welcome Thread like you're supposed to, you will have read the following:

Quote
Anyone who continues to post excessively, questioning a conclusive negative result or no-risk situation, will be subject to a four week Time Out (a temporary ban from the Forums). If you continue to post excessively after one Time Out, you may be given a second Time Out which will last eight weeks. There is no third Time Out - it is a permanent ban. The purpose of a Time Out is to encourage you to seek the face-to-face help we cannot provide on this forum.

Please consider yourself warned.

KM,

If you're worried about your hiv status, then go have an hiv antibody test. However, you will not be permitted to use this site to go on and on about your no risk incident.

KM,

You tested negative after your protected sexual encounter. That result is not going to change - you ARE hiv negative.

If you're worried about your mouth, get mom to take you to the dentist. If you have pain, get mom to take you to the doctor. Whatever is going on, it has nothing to do with hiv. You are hiv negative. Keep using condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse and you'll stay that way.

If you come back to post more about this no-risk incident, you'll be given a time out.

It's time you got on with your life and high-school studies. You should be enjoying your teenage years instead of worrying about something you don't have - and won't have as long as you keep using condoms for intercourse. Read through all three condom and lube links in my signature line so you can use them with confidence.

KM,

As long as you use condoms for intercourse with your girlfriend - or anyone else - you won't have to worry about hiv.

You tested negative because you never had a risk in the first place. Your bumps and whatnot have nothing to do with hiv. You do not have hiv.

I'm giving you that time out you've been warned about. Do not attempt to create a new account to get around your time out because if you do, you will be permanently banned.
