Flu or Summer Cold?
« on: September 17, 2008, 02:08:39 PM »
Damn it! Over the weekend, I developed a cough then a sore throat. Now going on day 5 of this God awful thing, I have completely lost my voice...yes that's right, I am unable to make any sound what-so-ever.

I have been bed ridden for three days straight, and I feel like crap! However, today I have been coughing green stuff up...aw, love the slimy chunkiness of it all!

This really sucks, anyone else having a bought with a summer cold?

Oh yeah, we all have it here. I don't necessarily feel horrible, but rather am quite annoyed with everything I am coughing up. I am going into week 2 and still no relief in sight. Gotta love the changing seasons. Hope you feel better soon.

Jeromy,
It is definately the time of year for those nasty colds to be going around. I too have been hacking up the green chunks and dealing with a hoarse voice. If you're not running a fever and suffering from muscle aches, it is probably just a bad cold. I hope that you feel better soon and know you're not alone in it.

There seem to be two strains of summer cold going around in NYC right now, distinguishable by the color of the slime. Mine is more of a tea green.

That don't sound good. Maybe some anti-biotics in store for you, if not already. Hope you get feeling better soon. Keep hydrated ! Seriously, don't hesitate to see a doctor, if you haven't been already.

We just received notice at work that our flu shots will be available soon for the employees. As usual, I will be getting mine.

How peculiar I also came down with a minor cold I'm in Chicago a lot of people in my office are sick. I've been washing my hands. Now I have scratchy throat, slight fever, and general fatigue. Otherwise I'm drinking a lot of fluids, and some Tylenol. Chicken soup and zinc gluconate glycine lozenges helped my throat a bit, it's funny because I still hear people talking about antibiotics for a cold lol . Cold and Flu are viral so there is no use as antibiotics work on bacteria only. Unless someone have a bad case of cold(flu) I would recommend seeing a doctor it could turn to pneumonia (especiially if your T-cell count is low).

Jeromy,
I had a nasty lung-thing going on for 10mths before I finally got rid of it (thanks again, Ann! :-*).  Now, I'm back to the sore throat, slimy nastiness, headache, sneezing, and coughing.  And then Mini asked me Monday why her throat was burning and her head hurt.  I gave her some tylonel cough and cold hoping she could sleep last night, but she woke up this morning and told me that it didn't work.

So, yeah, we've got it, too.  Here's to a speedy recovery.

CVS offers a store-label generic, too. It finally cleared the Ramrod Lung I endured from February though July.

I've got MusinexDM and just started taking it.  I can only take stuff at night since everything puts me to sleep (but Nyquil keeps me up).  However, it had the opposite effect last night and I've been up since 11:30 last night (went to bed at 10) and I'm still hacking up a lung and on my 2nd box of tissue.
