He Didn't Have Cancer, But He May Yet Go Blind
« on: August 26, 2008, 02:05:08 PM »
CNN video reports on the story of Michael Guglielmucci, a pastor of Edge Church International who faked having cancer (complete with vomit and clumps of hair coming out of his head) to cover up his shameful addiction to porn. He even had an illness-inspired song of faith (called, "The Healer") which will be "stripped from shelves and reedited".

Ann,
It's really not that important. Just some crack pot Australian evangelical preacher. I've not heard/read anywhere else that the fake cancer was to cover up a porn addiction.
All I've read is that he faked cancer for the last few years, singing the Healer song with a plastic tube hangin' out of his nose. It has also been revealed that he has had a porn addiction for the last 16 years or so.
According to his dad, also a ev preacher, he's been a nutcase for years

I'm not quite sure.  The video doesn't really say.  I'm inclined to think he used cancer as his excuse to stay shut up in the room masturbating all the time...and possibly even using donations from well-wishers to buy more porn.  Silly christian...you can get it for free online anyway.  Maybe he spent it all on large bottles of lube and FIST.  Who knows?  The video kinda suggested that his guilt from whacking off to the porn actually made him become ill...and he blamed that illness on cancer.  Waiting for insight from down under.

his dad's as much of a wacko as he is.

read this article http://www.theaustralian.news.com.au/story/0,25197,24232365-5006787,00.html

at one point, after having explained how his son has had all these illnesses since age 12 he asks: "To be honest, I ask myself as a father, 'What did I miss, what did I not do? What could I have done better?' " - ummm, taken him to shrink 12 years ago when it was suggested to you in the first place.

Sound more like free publicity for these guys churches than anything else.

next story please

After reading about this, the first thing I thought of was Ted Bundy blaming his career of evil on porn.  It's a way for the good reverend to continue his role of victim.

In a way, it reminds me of people blaming their HIV infection on Manhunt or the bath house, rather than their own desire for risky sex.
