im scared out of my wits
« on: July 15, 2008, 07:19:23 AM »
I had protected vaginal sex with an old friend of mine and I am terrified in case he has hiv.He assures me he is fine!!!!!!!!!!The condom didn't burst, and when we were finished I looked to check it was still on and i could see his fluids were in the tip of the condom, he is a non-drug user, not from or been to Africa,he isn't bisexual or gay.I feel like I have become seriously paranoid about this.At week 4 after the encounter my psoriasis flared up but it done that last year after a bad sore throat and stress and I came down with a bug 2days after this encounter.I also felt my nodes in my neck were sore on and off.At week 7 I then had joint pain and now my ankles are slightly swollen but I have a bad diet am overweight and sit for long periods on the computer scaring myself.I have been to the hiv doctor at my hospital and have had a negative 2 week and 9.5 week hiv test. This is my only exposure.Do u think i will be OK ????? ???

You didn't have a risk of contracting HIV. Condoms are very effective in preventing HIV and most STDs.

None of your symptoms are in anyway suggestive of HIV, but that's no surprise since you didn't have a risk for transmission. As Rod has said, condoms do a very effective job of protecting you.

Surfing the net is addictive and will serve no good purpose. All it will do is feed your totally unwarranted fears. Keep on indulging in that and you'll find plenty to scare yourself with.

If your symptoms persist then discuss them with your doctor. They have nothing to do with HIV and this is not an HIV situation. And if you decide to have intercourse again, just make sure that whomever you are with is always wearing a condom.

Cheers,
Andy Velez

Nah, you're not going to escape the trials and tribulations of motherhood that easily. You're stuck with bringing that little guy up.

Just make sure that if you decide to have intercourse again that whoever the guy is always wears a condom. No exceptions.

Cheers,

I know this might sound really silly but what are the chances of his sperm coming out over the top of the condom?

That just doesn't happen. You are still worrying needlessly. Give it a rest and get on with your life. Really.

Jellybean,

Lymph nodes get sore for all sorts of reasons. As has been explained to you previously, in your case HIV is not one of those reasons.

Looking over this thread, I note you've not been directed to our Welcome Thread. You should take the time to read it. Not only does it contain links to our excellent lessons on HIV testing and transmission, it also contains our posting guidelines.

It's important that you review those guidelines and understand what we do and do not put up with in this forum.

Be well,

MtD

jelly,

You didn't have a risk for infection so why on earth are you fretting about tests?

Most GUM clinics use the latest, fourth generation tests. The previous negative results you've had are not going to change no matter what generation test is used. You don't have hiv.

Make sure condoms are always used in future and you won't have a risk.

jelly,

Take your swollen ankles to your GP. It could be nothing or it could be something as serious as heart trouble. Whatever it is, it ISN'T hiv. You don't have hiv.

Jelly,

If you keep attempting to use this forum in place of seeing a doctor about your various concerns, you'll end up being given a time out.

Unless you've been having UNPROTECTED intercourse you've not told us about, then you haven't been at risk for hiv infection.

Whatever is going on with you has nothing to do with hiv. Go see a doctor. We can't help you here.

Anyone who continues to post excessively, questioning a conclusive negative result or no-risk situation, will be subject to a four week Time Out (a temporary ban from the Forums). If you continue to post excessively after one Time Out, you may be given a second Time Out which will last eight weeks. There is no third Time Out - it is a permanent ban. The purpose of a Time Out is to encourage you to seek the face-to-face help we cannot provide on this forum.

Psoriasis does not delay nor affect the accuracy of HIV test results.

You need to get on with your life or you will end up getting a time out here.

Jelly,

Once again, if you have concerns about what's going on with your body, you need to see a doctor. Whatever is going on has NOTHING to do with hiv infection. You didn't have a risk.

If you don't believe us, go test and collect your negative result. You're far outside the window period - although you were never IN a window period because you had NO RISK.

As we're clearly not getting through to you, I'm giving you that time out you've been warned about. Do not attempt to create a new account to get around your time out because if you do, you will be permanently banned.
