"Declining rate of violent crimes?"   Hell, in my city, over the last 24 hours, there were five shootings, one of them fatal.

Even my oldest sister, who is a right-winger, is complaining now.

Barbara please -- as of April 1st Philadelphia has had 71 murders.  However, I will state that even that unseemly figure is much lower than the rates for 2006 and 2007.

ps:  there are no rabid right-wingers in my family.  Not sure how that happened.

Feel fortunate.  My sister and I have gotten into more than one "heated" discussion over politics, religion etc.  Luckily, we've been able to remain on good terms.

Our family was the 12th family in our town to get a TV set.  My dad had built a tower which had an attenna and would extent to 150 feet.  There was a flashing red light on top so an airplane wouldn't hit it.  As little kids we knew which plug connected the reception for which booster and which neighbor was on which booster.

We had a neighbor family, the father worked as a Supervisor for Southern Pacific Railroad, he always yelled at the evening news.  As we grew up we all learned the father of our friends didn't know anything about current events or anything, he just yelled at the TV set.

His oldest son wanted so much to be just like his father, he went to work at Southern Pacific Railroad, got married, bought a house and started yelling at the TV news.   They are all dead now so I will never again get to hear them watch TV news  ;D  Have the best day
Michael
