Ultra HIGH RISK i cant believe it ;-(
« on: June 14, 2008, 08:02:23 AM »
Hello Everybody

Sorry for my bad english, i hope you can understand it.

Something horrible ist happen this week for me, i cant believe it , how stupid i was.

In Europe, Switzerland is now the Football Europe Match;-(

I was on a match and drink so much alcohol and then the mistake in my life is happen:

I move so drunken in the red-light district and had with 3 Womens unprotected vaginal Sex, in the morning i realise the horror, minimun 2 of the girls use Drugs, i dont know if they use i.v drugs, but 100 % they take cocaine in thery nose.

Its so crazy this Women are from the Street prostitution, the highest risk for hiv.

24 Hour Later i call the Hospital and write to an HIV Doc.

i Found Informations about the PEP for HIGH RISK Situations, i tell this the doctor but he says to me:

Yes the time for PEP ist ok for you(tell something about 72 Hour) but i dont want give you PEP because the Risk ist not Big to contract HIV.he tell me 7 % of de Girls who use i.v Drugs are HIV + and the risk is 1:300 that i contactet the HI Virus, 1:300? oh my god this is so much.

Now 6 days after the horror Day i sleeped only 2 days and cant eat and did work in the office, its so shameful what happen.

I still wait now for the primary Symtoms of HIV, look every Hour on my body.

I see on the Internet some Informationes about de PCR HIV Test . if the Test after 15 -20 is Postiv or Negativ i can be secured . Is this true?

Sorry for my bad english ;-( I hope you can understand me, now i go to the drug store and buy sleeping pill, i must sleep.

It was now a big failing that the doctor dont give the PEP, because it was ah ultra high Risk Situations ;-(
Im so shameful for this day, its not ok to buy girls

Dear 08,

How about as you read this you take a nice, deep and slow breath in and then out. And then do it a second time. I mean it! And do that everytime you find yourself tensing up. Good breathing really, really helps to calm things down.

Now, as far as your situation goes. Wringing your hands and worrying about what ifs is just a waste of your energy. There are some things you ought to know. HIV is a fragile virus. It is not easy to transmit. It is much more difficult to transmit from female to male. Yes, of course you were at risk having unprotected intercourse. But the odds are still significantly in your favor that you will come out of this ok when you test at 13 weeks. And 13 weeks is when you should have the standard ELISA test done to get a reliable result.

As far as  using a PCR, that is NOT recommended. Although it is a highly sensistive test it was NOT designed for diagnoistic purposes. Becuase of its high sensitivity it frequently gives a FALSE positive. So you are going to have to be patient and wait out the time to get tested at 13 weeks. The average time to seroconversion is 22 days. All but the smallest number of those who are going to seroconvert will do so within 4-6 weeks after an exposure to the virus. So if you want you can test at6 weeks. Assuming you get a negative then, you should still re-test at 13 weeks.

In the meantime while you are waiting, instead of indulging in all sorts of drama, you need to turn your attention to other things in your life. Don't tell me you are too upset to do that. Just DO IT! Meantime you are likely to be watching for "symtoms" or "signs" of HIV. That's another waste of time because so-called symptoms tell you nothing accurately about your HIV status. So don't get on to that slippery slope because you'll really drive yourself crazy that way.

So breathe and get busy with other things. I expect you to come out of this ok. And you must learn from this experience that mixing excessive alcohol and casual sex is a dangerous combination.

Good luck on your test and keep us posted.

Cheers,
Andy Velez

Hi Andy

thanks for your nice answer :-X

Im now back in my Appartment ,in still under "shock" every second i think about it what happens, it was the darkest day in this year, unbelievable .

Ok, i dont know hows the Situation in the US about the Testing , in Austria is the PCR a fast way to find out if the HI Virus is avaible or not, the doctor tell me i must wait 14 days to test. Then after 13 Weeks for 100 % the Antibody Testing.

But i think it will be a dark day, it must happen , the deal with HIV, it was not a girl or girlfriend, 3 Girls from a    high risk sector, they have every day unprotected Sex with Mens, unbelievable  that i was there on Monday  :-\

I dont understand why de doctor DONT give the PEP (Postexposure Prophylaxis for HIV) to me , it was a so high Situation the unpro.  vaginal Sex :(

Now its to late

//

I suggest you do the PCR at 28 days. Prior to that can be too early. And you need to remember that because of its high level of sensitivity it can easily give a false positive.

Re PEP, well that's past and there's nothing good to be gained by dwelling on that. I find that it's always best to deal with what is and move on rather than lingering over the past.

Cheers,

Desperate,

As Andy pointed out in his first post, PCR testing is not approved for diagnostic purposes. All you really need is an antibody test, and the earliest you should test is at the six week point.

You need to know that no matter what result you get from a PCR, you still MUST be tested for antibodies at the appropriate time. PCR testing in your case would be a waste of time and money.

If you insist on having a PCR done, make sure it is an RNA-PCR test. The DNA test is very prone to false positives but the RNA is a little better.

Again, ANY PCR result MUST be confirmed, one way or another, with antibody testing at the appropriate time.

While you have had a risk, I agree with the doctor who told you PEP was not necessary. You have an excellent chance of testing hiv negative without PEP.

Desperate,

HIV is a disease. It doesn't care who people are, just what they do. Just because the women you had sex with were sex workers (street, brothel or otherwise) is not necessarily a reason to think they have HIV.

The only way to find out if you have been infected is to be tested. I agree with Ann, there is every reason to think you will test negative.

We've told you all that we can tell you. There's nothing to do now but wait until you can get an accurate test result.

How you spend that time is going to be strictly up to you. You can torture yourself with guilt and remorse OR you can for starters try that  breathing well and get on with your life. We understand your concern very, very well. But making yourself miserable isn't going to make waiting any better. Quite the contrary. I say find other things in your life to focus on and it will make the waiting time pass much faster than you may imagine is possible. Really.

Marcos, only those who are authorized to do so are to reply to others who write in this section of the Forum. I am sure you are well intentioned, but you are not authorized to be responding here. Thanks for your cooperation.

I can also tell you that for someone who's in a high state of anxiety about HIV, telling him there are medications for treatment is NOT going to calm or comfort the person. In my experience it only raises their anxiety even higher if possible.

Desp, I wonder if you are really reading what all of us have said to you. Or are you just listening to the hysteria in your head?

That PCR is a very sensitve test which was NOT designed for diagnostic purpores. It is very common to get a false positive because of its high sensitivity. And you would be well advised to wait until 4 weeks before taking it to have even a measure of accuracy. But I wonder if you're listening to any of this....

Fortunately feelings aren't facts. Along with whatever maybe causing your symptoms I would suspect your emotions are playing a significant role as well. You can discuss your symptoms with your doctor. Stress can be expressed many ways by the body. And there is absolutely nothing HIV-specific in what you are reporting.

I still expect you will come out of this ok as far as HIV is concerned.

Now stop all this drama and feeling sorry for yourself, none of which is helping you in anyway.

Desp-

Reread the excellent responses you've received so far. They should help you to relax a bit and gain some perspective.

You are obviously in a very stressful state, which is clouding your reasoning and undoubtedly causing physical symptoms. These are not HIV/AIDS-specific and are most likely caused by stress. Please try and gain some peace or you'll only make yourself feel worse.

And please stop equating your experiences with the prostitutes as something shameful or evil. You're a human being who made the mistake of not using protection in the heat of the moment. Your choice of sex partners is irrelevant to the risk, which is frankly so low that you were not prescribed PEP.

Sex is not evil or shameful: unprotected sex (with anyone outside of a monogamous, long-term relationship) is unwise but not monstrous. Please, for your own peace of mind, gain perspective and try to relax.

I would not bring up the question of HIV with your surgeon. The likelihood that you are going to test HIV+ is not great. It seems to me to be a separate issue regarding the reason for your surgery.

Good luck with that procedure.

I'm glad you have gotten through that surgery.

And yes, antibiotics can cause thrush. Thrush is NOT an HIV-specific occurence. It happens as well to those who are NOT HIV positive.

Good luck with your HIV test when you take it.

The Operation was ok i feel fine now, but i found today this article :o

Authorities search for clients of prostitute who spread HIV virus

When a 39-year-old prostitute known as Róza was admitted to a hospital in Cheb, western Bohemia, in March this year with a liver condition, nobody suspected that she was the person the local public health authorities had been looking for since 2005. Jaroslava Hrabáková is an epidemiologist at the Regional Hygiene Centre in Cheb.

“We found out in March this year, after Róza died, that she was the woman who between 2001 and 2004 infected two men here with HIV. The men then infected their partners. So we launched a search for other clients of hers to discover the whole network. We want to make these people start treatment, but mainly to stop the infection from spreading further into the population.”

The authorities received Róza’s phone book and started calling the numbers they thought might belong to the woman’s regular clients to warn them they could have been infected with HIV. Out of the 20 men reached so far, six are HIV positive. Do the authorities have any idea of how many men in total could have got the deadly virus from Róza?

http://www.radio.cz/en/article/106291

6 from 20 are now HIV +, an 100 more can be now HIV +

Now i dont really understand why the Doctors give me not a PEP, i have a ultra high Risk Situation.

The other bad thing, i found a girl from the Horrornight i was so shocket when i see how shes look like, she was a really Druguser Junkie and ask her about her HIV Status, she smiles only and said:

Its now not her Problem what happen to me with the HIV Virus.

Im so a Asshole, how can this happen all on this night

What good purpose is served by your getting into all of this stuff? It's escaping me.

Find other things to read. And not about HIV.

I still expect you to come out of your test ok.

Hi Girls and Boys

update:

After 54 Days (8 Weeks) i make last night 2 HIV Rapid Tests like this one:

http://www.cdc.gov/hiv/topics/testing/rapid/images/Unigold-kit.jpg

Result :

Negativ

I know it means not much, i still must wait 4 Weeks for 99% Chance if the Test ist Negativ or Positiv

des,

Your eight week negative result is highly unlikely to change.

des,

Your eight week negative is HIGHLY UNLIKELY TO CHANGE, so please, don't use this forum to go on and on about it. If you need additional support, seek out a counselor. We only do risk assessment and test information here. We don't hold hands.
