My Sister's Mother Died Yesterday
« on: July 23, 2006, 09:29:06 AM »
Mrs Kathleen Edgar born 2nd May 1919 died yesterday. She was a fantastic woman. She wasn't my mother but she was my sister, Jennifer's, mother.

We're a complicated family.  :o

Jenny knows of many of you. She lurks here simply to know that her little brother is ok. She think's he's treated far better than he deserves. ;)

Sorry for the loss you and your sis have experienced.  Kathleen's 87 years is a pretty remarkable run.

Take care and listen to you sis, she's wise!

Ah, crap.

My paternal grandmother Magaret Elizabeth was born on May 2nd 1917. At least she had the good taste to die in April. I was diagnosed on May 3rd 2002. My father was born in May.

But good friends make the difference. Thanks guys.

I'm really sorry for your loss...Although Kathleen was 87 years old and had a good life it doesn't make it easier...to loose a loved one is never easy.

Matty, I'm sorry. 87 years is pretty cool though. Obviously not someone that liked to give up too easily. Sounds like your family, though. :)

Tell your sister I'm thinking about her.

87 years! That is quite a long life to share with others and should be celebrated as well as remembered.

Sorry,Matty

Sun comes up, it's Tuesday morning
hits me straight in the eye
guess you forgot to close the blind last night
Oh, that's right, I forgot, it was me

I sure do miss the smell of black coffee in the morning,
the sound of water splashing all over the bathroom,
the kiss that you would give me even though I was sleeping,
but I kind of like the feel of this extra few feet in my bed
Telephone's ringing, but I don't answer it
'cause everybody knows that good news always sleeps till noon

Guess it's tea and toast for breakfast again
maybe I'll add a little T.V. too
No milk! God, how I hate that
Guess I'll go to the corner, get breakfast from Jenny
She's got a black eye this morning, `Jen how'd ya get it?'
she says, `Last night, Bobby got a little bit out of hand'

Lunchtime. I start to dial your number
then I remember so I reach for something to smoke
and anyways I'd rather listen to Coltrane
than go through all that shit again

There's something about an afternoon spent doing nothing
Just listening to records and watching the sun falling
Thinking of things that don't have to add up to something
and this spell won't be broken
by the sound of keys scraping in the lock

Maybe tonight it's a movie
with plenty of room for elbows and knees
a bag of popcorn all to myself,
black and white with a strong female lead
and if I don't like it, no debate, I'll leave

Here comes that feeling that I'd forgotten
how strange these streets feel
when you're alone on them
Each pair of eyes just filled with suggestion
So I lower my head, make a beeline for home
Seething inside

Funny, I'd never noticed
the sound the streetcars make as they pass my window
Which reminds me that I forgot to close the blind again
Yeah, sure I'll admit there are times when I miss you
Especially like now when I need someone to hold me
but there are some things that can never be forgiven
and I just gotta tell you
that I kinda like this extra few feet in my bed

Matty,

I am not sorry.

Surprised?  Naw, I know you aren't.  OK, I will explain.  I want to encourage you to be happy in the fact that you were able to share this womans' incredible journey on this plane.  When people of age pass, we are supposed to learn from their passing.  Learn to not waste precious time in this life.  Learn to appreciate the gems they shared with us.  Learn to be happy with today.  Learn to be thankful for the little things in life that bring us joy.  Learn to share with those we love, so that we will not miss any opportunity to share our love for them.  Learn Learn Learn.

I know this is not falling on deaf, or uninformed ears; however, it is often times good to hear it once again, from friends who care about the suriviors in this life trip.  I trust your sister and you will recover from this loss soon, and her legacy will stay with you into the future to give you strength and understanding about the life you are GOING to live.

In Love and Understanding.
The Bible contains 6 admonishments to homosexuals,
and 362 to heterosexuals.
This doesn't mean that God doesn't love heterosexuals,
It's just that they need more supervision.

Jenny has read every post in this thread and sends her eternal love to all. She wants me to say that you take the most wonderful care her little brother.

Newt/Matt - such a gorgeous poem. There are not words to describe the honour you have done us.

Squeakie-Boi: She's looking for a friend for Wombat.

Jan/Ann/Trish/Zephie/Rasheen/Melia and all the Positive women: Jenny says that you have a strength that is almost never found. You inspire her.

To everyone else we want you to know that this thread is the most amazing gift we could have received at this time. Despite all the disagreements that happen in this place this thread is the epitomy of what AIDSMEDS is about --  unconditional love.
