Doctor visits again
« on: May 10, 2008, 03:50:24 PM »
This month has been one doctor appointment after another. I have had to stay with Lisa this whole week for appointments.

Have a CT scan on Tuesday and also a PET scan for the mass that has developed on my lungs again. Also had a ultrasound sound done on my testical region on Friday.

Have to go on a low carb diet starting tomorrow joy joy not looking forward to that. There is also a possiability that there might be a slight chance that I might have too get a FNA not looking forward too that. But what can you say when problems exisit just got to take them full force and move on.

Health wise everything is doing OK.

Lisa sends her hugs and kisses. :-*

Hi Jerry
I'm sorry to hear that you are going through all this but........at least you and Lisa get to spend some time together...HI Lisa!!

And Jerry.....a low carb diet is not all bad.....think : a big juicy steak, some nice fresh green beans and a lovely salad with a yogurt dressing.  ::)  But...no rolls or butter and no potatos. Its do-able!  ;D
Keep us posted.

Hi Jerry,

I wishes you good luck for your tests !
It's not funny, and hopefully it will be something benign. Otherwise, the only way to treat is to know.

I'm proud of you, as an unfortunate HIV-mate, because you are facing these tests head up.
Fortunately, you have someone with you, and you are also living in a G8 country, so you can be treated in the best possible way.
It can be better, but at least you have that.

Hopes you will provide great news soon !

Cheers,
John

Hi Jerry,

Just to tell you that I did a bone marrow biopsy and a PET-scan last December.
So I know how stressful it is to wait for such results; but as said my doc (I wasn't believing her anyway at this time):
You will be fine !

And it was almost the case: No lymphoma nor brain tumor. No malignancies cells in the bone marrow.
As for LordBerners, got all the symptoms, but wasn't that, fortunately !

I wishes you the same as both of us >> a.k.a very good news !!

Keep well, keep us posted !

Cheers,
John

Well I guess this is going to be a long progress of waiting.

My CT scan came back OK.

Still waiting on my test result for my PET scan.

One good thing about this all I am getting all the help I need and my weight is back up to 192lbs.

Well my ideal weight should be 220 but have never got that far yet since I'm 6'4" tall. I can remember back in 05 that my weight dropped down to 125 when I was first had the aids virus. :-\

I wonder about ideal weights as I am 6'3" and been told just the other day that my ideal weight would be 205lbs. (currently 258lbs) A previous doctor had stated it should be 220lbs and another 230lbs.. It weems all my working life I have been 235 and looked just fine. At least I had never been told that I was overwerght or needed to lose a few pounds.

Well I guess this is going to be a long progress of waiting.

Indeed. I don't know if you went to a big hospital or not, but in my case, I went to a medium sized hospital.
Despite that (and cause you can't find a PET in all hospital usually), there was a 2 week waiting list before getting the scan done.
To interpret the results, you need also an highly trained specialist.
So the queue you have on one side is probably the same on the other side.

Got my the official results 20 days later, but the day when the scan was done, I get the CD.
So my doc take a look to it, and provide me quite fast her opinion.

Wishes you to get another great result based on your CT scan result !

Cheers,
John

That's great Jerry!   192?   You've put on quite a few pounds since I saw you last summer.....I remember when we first met in Nashville, you were skinnier than me....

Not now though....at 6'2" I weigh a mere 161   >:(

The most I have ever weighed is 174.

Glad that mass turned out to be benign!

hugs,
Alan

That's a fantastic news Jerry !!

This virus is very stressful, but fortunately, there are many causes for a symptom, and in many cases, we learn that even a worrying symptom might be benign.

I guess you must feel much more relax, and that's very good for your health.

Keep well  :)
