Yairs. Election promise made by our PM, K-Rudd.

Predictably the lesbigays "activists" are unhappy because it's not gay marriage.

Last week the NSW State Government announced legislative changes in favour of lesbian maternal rights. See attached.

Some people will never be happy, Matty, no matter what they get.

Personally, I have no desire to get married. I am, however, overjoyed with what they are proposing. Equality in superannuation has always been a big gripe of mine. As I work for the govt, I am in a very generous Super scheme will nearly $300K already locked away until I die or retire. Under current rules, as a gay man if/when I die my partner, if I have one, is not entitled to 1 cent and the Commonwealth gets its grubby hands on what is my money. If I was in any other sort of relationship, my partner would get the cash. That will all change under the proposed changes. YAY!!!

That's the way it is here in the states.  Michael worked for the feds for 30+ years.  We've been together 28+ years.  Now is has a nice disability/retirement coming in every month.  Together with my disability and our own investments, we have enough coming in to just keep our heads comfortably above water.  Once he kicks the bucket, though, it's gone.  I get nothing.  That's when I start sinking.

It shows just how much power the previous PM had over his party, when they now seem to agree with the changes by the new Labor Government.
Hopefully we will see a total change in all state laws as well that will make life a little easier for the gay community in general

That is one advantage to a 401K compared to a pension.

And now they are talking about how to introduce and fund 6 months paid maternity leave and 1 month paid paternity leave to Australian workers.
What next? world peace!
