Paranoid for 8 Months!! Experts Please Help! Thank You!
« on: April 22, 2008, 12:17:01 PM »
Hello, I'm new here and my question is about a possible exposure that deep down, I don't believe is ANYTHING to worry about but thats my m.o...  I was on a bus 8 months ago talking to a man and then we got on the subject of tonsils (weird yes, but we were talking about the cold I had so...)  anyway, he says "can I see yours?"  and I actually said ok!!  So he put his finger on my tongue to see my tonsils.  Harmless I thought, yes, his fingers may have been dirty but thats all I thought.  Of course, b/c its me, I started to get worried that night that he could have possible put a contaminated finger in my mouth, as in, I thought to myself, what if he pricked his finger RIGHT before he put it on my tongue?  What if there was just a small drop or a smear of fresh blood on his finger?!  His finger was only on my tongue for like 6 seconds but I'm tripping about it!!  Now I don't think this would be any type of risk from SOME of the things I've read, but I'm not 100% sure, so this is why I'm here.  Your answers are greatly appreciated.  Thank you.

hi,

Even if he had a drop of blood on his finger, you weren't at risk for hiv infection. Saliva contains over a dozen different proteins and enzymes that damage hiv and render it unable to infect.

Please read our Welcome Thread and click on and read the Transmission Lesson linked to there.

You need to be using condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, every time, no exceptions until such time as you are in a securely monogamous relationship where you have both tested for ALL sexually transmitted infections together. To agree to have unprotected intercourse is to consent to the possibility of being infected with an STI. Sex with a condom lasts only a matter of minutes, but hiv is forever.

Have a look through all three condom and lube links in my signature line so you can use condoms with confidence.

Anyone who is sexually active should be having a full sexual health care check-up, including but not limited to hiv testing, at least once a year and more often if unprotected intercourse occurs.

If you aren't already having regular, routine check-ups, now is the time to start. As long as you make sure condoms are being used for intercourse, you can fully expect your routine hiv tests to return with negative results. Don't forget to always get checked for all the other sexually transmitted infections as well, because they are MUCH easier to transmit than hiv.

Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, correctly and consistently, and you will avoid hiv infection. It really is that simple.

thank you for the quick response Ann, but I mean, my tongue wasn't covered with excessive drool or anything.  I guess what I'm saying is does there have to be TONS of saliva to damage hiv (if he had put blood on my tongue)?  I even purposely kept my mouth a little open after he did it to 'take in' air b/c I know air kills it too...

The answer Ann gave you still stands..you were not at risk for HIV, please read the link that Ann posted and follow the lessons on how HIV is and isn't transmitted.

HIV is a fragile virus and has never, ever been recorded to have been transmitted in the manner you are concerned about. Your question is an indication that you need to become better informed about HIV transmission. Please read our lesson on that subject.

To the Experts, Another Oral Sex Question : /
« Reply #6 on: July 10, 2008, 05:41:39 PM »
I recently got out of a relationship and with this guy (I'm a women) I gave him oral sex on several occasions, definitely under 20 times in the 4 months we were together. No condom, and he ejaculated in my mouth.  I NEVER swallowed it and I know for a fact that he had on at least one occasion been tested for HIV (before we met).  We never had unprotected sex so my only unprotected activity would be the oral sex I gave him with ejaculation.  I read that it's kind of a risk, low risk, very low risk, and no risk.  Which one is it?  I've been kind of worried.  Thank you!!

Wait, I'm talking about the oral sex post I posted.  There's no risk for oral sex with ejaculation in the mouth BUT w/no swallowing?

Ann

Can you prove this theory ? Has it ever been proven.

So, your telling me that people get STD but they don't get HIV from Saliva, in the entire history of HIV ?

Are you some sort of mental deficient?

You are required to stay in your own thread. Do not post in other people's threads. Do not reply to this post.

Ya dig?
