Advice appreciated from people who know. Please.
« on: March 18, 2008, 11:26:23 AM »
First of all I`d like to say thanks before I even start to the regulars and moderators who provide sound advice or encouragement to people like myself.
I`ve scanned through the posts and still feel the need to ask my own question so I apologize in advance for any repeats.
6 weeks ago I ended up (against my better judgement) recieving unprotected oral from an unknown person who had just given oral to someone else. I had no other contact with them or insertive or receptive sex of any kind.I ejaculated like the person before in their mouth and I know the HIV risk for recieving oral is nearly zero but my life has been made torture waiting on the time to test. I can`t concentrate, work or sleep properly for worry.
My situation has been made worse by a swollen nodes in my neck (Noticeably swollen) under my chin. I`ve never had anything like this in my life and this is impossible for me to ignore.I`ve had no fever or rash or flu like symptoms. The glands have been like this for 1 month.
My fear is infected semen has got into my system through my urethra. I mean is this possible?
Any sound/honest advice appreciated please.I`m a grown man and have never cried with fear since I was a kid. I`m out of my mind with worry.
. I`ve already tested Negative for HIV at 4 weeks but plan to test again for my sanity. Is a 4 week test worth anything?
  thanks

No risk of  HIV transmission from receiving oral sex.

I kinda expected and hoped I wouldn`t get a reply like that. :-\
Rapidrod you`re either A; Massively Confident I`m ok (which I hope you are) or B; treating it like another BJ question. I don`t doubt your integrity or knowledge for a minute but my fear overrides any logical reasoning simply because I see my case as different.
I take it my 4 week neg wasn`t worth anything? The whole semen on my penis thing has got to me.
I swear i won`t continue panicking afer I`ve had another Neg result at a later date I just need the belief and strength to get there.

Genuinely,

Even with the way your encounter played out (residue of semen in mouth), you were not at risk for hiv infection in what you describe.

For those with an ACTUAL risk, a 4 week negative is very encouraging as the average time for a positive test is 22 days post exposure for those who become infected.  And a 13 week negative is conclusive.

There are MANY other things that could be responsible for your symptoms.  You aren't going to make history being the first to become infected in this manner. So relax.  ;)

It's because I know how HIV is and is not transmitted. Your case is not any different than anyone else that has received a blow job. Your 4 week negative tells you that you have never been exposed to HIV 3 months before you took the test and you didn't need a test for the blow job. So you are conclusively negative.

Just joining in with the others who have told you that you weren't at risk for transmission, no, not even if the guy servicing you had a mouthful of accumulated cum. Fortunately fears and feelings are not facts and you have absolutely no basis in HIV science for being worried about transmission via getting a blowjob.

How much you bother yourself about this in spite of that is strictly up to you. But there was no risk. Period. End of story.

 Morgan/Rapid/Andy.

Thanks. They`re only words but they`ve helped me. You guys know, i`m not sure, thats why I asked. I`ll take another test anyway. The difference now being I`ll be confident and take the result as my last.
Thanks again. I`ll no doubt post my results and hopefully you`re all spot on.
  God bless you.

Genuinely,

It's your time and money, but don't kid yourself that the test is for any reason other than your peace of mind.

Good luck.

You`re right, it IS for piece of mind. I`ll tell you something else. When it does come back Negative (surely),  I plan to become more active in HIV awareness. If I can help even ONE person then it`ll have been worth it.
   Thanks again

Well if it's awakened you to the real facts of transmission then hopefully the angst you've been experiencing will lead you to a good purpose as well as peace of mind when you inevitably test negative.

Cheers,

Just felt the need to say this. I tested Negative at 7 weeks  :)
. I`m not being foolish but, I`m taking onboard what Andy/Rod and morgan has said. I won`t be testing again.
Any worried wells reading this, if you`re offered advice on here by any of the mods TAKE IT and accept it. They know what they`re talking about.

It's no surprise about that negative, but still that result is always good to get.

Put this behind you and get on with your life.

Cheers,
