Blood test results back - undetectable!
« on: March 01, 2008, 01:20:25 AM »
So 3 months after being diagnosed positive during seroconversion, I am proud to say that my virus is at "undetectable" levels!  I'm thrilled about this, as my viral load was sky high just last November.  Kidney function, liver function, cholesterol all fine.  I was happy about the low triglyceride and ok cholesterol levels after having been on Kaletra for awhile now.  I guess every drug affect individuals differently.

My cd4 did make a drop to 604.  No reason why, of course, and my doctor seemed completely unconcerned.  He said that it fluctuates like that a lot when the count is somewhat high and that with the virus suppressed I had no reason to worry.

So I just wanted to let everyone know of my latest results.  I continue to feel that I made the right choice in starting meds immediately after seroconversion.

Thanks for reading!

Impressive hike in CD4s, Patrick.

You wrote, "My cd4 did make a drop to 604.  No reason why, of course, and my doctor seemed completely unconcerned.  He said that it fluctuates like that a lot when the count is somewhat high and that with the virus suppressed I had no reason to worry."

My CD4's fluctuate within as much as a 200 count range when an assessment is made of all the lab results of these past 8 years--holding a median of 500.  VL always undetectable (>50).

Congrats on the numbers and the undetectable. I was excited when I reached undetectable in a month's time but then my vl was never as high as yours. Even though there are complaints about meds, there are also good results from them too. It's good to hear about the good.

Congrats on the great numbers!!!  That's impressive to get to undetectable after having such a high vl not too long ago.  Good stuff!!!

Thanks for all the kind words everyone.  Especially regarding the usual rollercoaster ride with the cd4 count.  That puts me at ease.

Desertguy - I am on Truvada and Kaletra.

I've haven't missed a dose so far, and don't plan on doing so, EVER.  I've gained back 12 lbs. out of the 14lbs. I lost during seroconversion and the nurse who saw me the other day when I went in for my results remarked how good I looked.  That felt good too.

Hoping for a long and healthy live despite being HIV +   My doctors say I should expect that, and I continue to hope they are right.
