Ok I know I havent been here for several weeks but here I am.  I last posted about this guy I had met up with after several years. Well lets see, we talk on a daily basis several times a day and after much thought I realize that he is not something that I am after on the rebound.  Last night he told me that he had been thinking about his past relationships...people he still talks to that he used to date and has come to  realize that I am the only person he wants to spend time with.   He knows all about my status and even went to my last dr visit with me.  He makes sue that I take care of myself, eat when I am supposed to and eat the right types of food.  We went to lunch today and just spent time riding around talking for a few hours after lunch.  He asked me why I callled him 3 different times the first night we ran into each other, for which I am not sure of the answer other than to see if I was ready to get into any type of relationship wether it be platonic, purely sexual or whatever, the fact is that I love his company, the way he makes me feel and the fact that, after being beat down so far for the past 12 years that he has given me back a part of myself tht I never thought I would find again.  I thought that once I was diagnosed as HIV positive that any chances of finding someone that cared for me and wanted to be with me were next to none.  Paul wants to be with me in every sense of the word, wether it is just lunch, a beer, sex or just laying in bed holding each other or working beside one another.  It is really weird for us because we knew each other as teenagers and never in a million years thought we would be where we are today in terms of any kind of relationship.   So everything here is looking up!

Hi Seekay

Glad to hear the good news.  Tonight I had a date and he was great, not like anyone I have dated before.  He remembered from a previous conversation that I love tulips and had tulips hiding in his jacket for me.   I have never been given flowers on a date before ever.  He also told me that when we started talking he has not answered anyone else's emails from the dating site that we meet on.  The scary thing for me is when am i going to disclose and is he going to be accepting of it.  But your story gives me hope.  I have had other men in the past who have been ok with my status but its always scary when you have to disclose.  So congrats to you.  How did you tell your friend that you were +.  Any tips for not making it so scary to him when disclosing?

How did I disclose....well I am kind of a no nonsense type of person, either you accept me as I am or the hell with ya.  I saw him at the bar...told him that there was a lot of baggage that went with me and he really needed to think about that.  He asked me to call him when I got home so he knew I made it home safely.  He was still at the bar when I did call him and he asked me to tell him what my baggage was all about.  WEll I told him that my husband infected me with HIV and if he wanted to continue to have any kind of relationship with me he needed to know that and the risks that went along with it.  If he did not want to continue any kind of relationship with me then I was cool with that as well because of the fact that I know any type of relationship where I am concerned is not going to be easy due to my status.  I told him then that the ball was in his court, he could either dribble or pass.  About that time his phone went dead.  I was like ummmmm ok well I know his decision.  About 3 min later he called me back and told me that he was a big boy, knew what the risks were and was ok with it.  I asked him if he wanted to go out the following night, to which he said yes.  I talked to him the next day and put it all out there for him again, just in case the alcohol was talking when he accepted me the night before.  He called me and asked if he was still invited for dinner to which I tol him if that was what he really wanted to do, he said he understood everything I had told him not only the first tme but the second as well and really wanted that dinner.  And as they say..... the rest is history!
