*sigh* I'm SOOOO not in the mood for Dr. Ginsberg today
« on: February 14, 2008, 12:17:34 PM »
Yes, it's that time of the month.  No, not my period -- but a jaunt to the head shrinking observant Jewish therapist.  Actually he's a pretty nice man, but I'm quite sure he's not a fag because he refused to answer me when I asked... like what's the big deal in saying the answer?  My first therapist was a GAYJEW and he was just such a delight, plus his office overlooked this really serene "zen" garden on the Upper East Side... kind of swank but that was back in the days when I had a high paying job and was Supreme NYC Fiercerulingdiva.  Not anymore... now I go to this place where everyone except me is a recovering speed freak, or most of them.  Ginsberg did fess up to that one.

I never have anything planned out for what we're going to talk about, but I'm such a fucking Chatty Kathy that as soon as I sit down I just rattle on and on about next to everything and nothing.  Maybe today we'll discuss what a miserable failure I've been with all romance issues... but that's SO BORING.

I'm just looking forward to buying some new fair trade coffee and sea salt after my appointment... and maybe feast on a #2 combo at Wendy's.

Finish the job with a Baconator. Not as fast as poison, but just as effective.

Wow, David, this is ironic.  My therapist (Dr. Berardi) will be here in about 10 or 15 minutes.  Yes, he comes to my apartment.  No, we're not fucking.  I've had the same therapist since 1991.  We also socialize outside of appointments.  He's taken me to the Civic Theatre where his wife has been in some plays, the last one being 'The Glass Menagerie.'  Sometimes I feel like I have nothing to say and like I should cancel the appointment.  But outside of school and the occasional out-to-eat on the weekend with a friend, my social life is lacking.  He's very LGBT friendly also, so I can talk to him about some of the strange trists I've had.

Ah, where would we be without our therapists?

I wasn't aware that therapists did home deliveries!  Wow... now if only he combined masseur and manicure services I'd *so* totally be there.  Oh, and Betty, I'll be popping into the post office with your DVD today because it's on the ground floor of the office building where Ginsberg works :)

Oh, ad Doxie -- the Baconator scares me.  Plus I've had to take 10mg of loperamide an hour ago because I spent the entire morning on the crapper with the most disgusting Norvir squirts.  I had to hose down the commode with Scrubbing Bubbles TWICE.  Tragic.  I figure by the time my Ginsberg appointment is up my intestines will be so stopped up that I'll be able to throw back a double cheeseburger.

It's ALL about living on the edge with my HIV Lifestyleģ

I'm dying to hear how the visit went. Damn Betty, you get home therapy, it must be nice. I am waiting for a call back from mine to schedule intake. I found out that they have a therapist who works with the hearing impaired but she makes her own schedules. I hope I can get in to see her.

Ah Stevie darling -- I just snagged some superlative Hacienda La Esmeralda Diamond Mountain coffee from Panama after my appointment with Ginsberg.  I rushed home and made some

And for Queen, my visit with Ginsberg went well.  Today we discussed Olu, The Nigerian ex-lover.  I'd somehow avoided a discussion of him, at least in any great detail, for the 2 years that I've been seeing Ginsberg.  He seemed engrossed -- nothing like discussing anal fisting with a hetero Jewish man.  But I think he really perked up when we discussed my catching gonorrhea from Jack Simmons 10 years ago.  I flipped that bitch and made him a bottom too... ha ha.  Imagine!

Hey David, thanks for getting that in the mail.  I'll be looking forward to it.  My therapist and his wife are also my granddaughter's godparents.  He started coming to my residence (of course I've moved tons of times since then) in 1994, during the wasting.  He had counseled someone right before that who died from complications due to AIDS.
I do feel fortunate to have him.  It sounds like your session with your shrink was interesting.  What was his reaction when you were talking about fisting?

Oh, he tries to act like he's heard it all -- I'm sure he has, but he still made a facial reaction and had to recover from it quickly, then laughed.  I think he must be around my age.

He likes me as a patient because I'm never late, never cancel appointments or do no-shows, and he doesn't have to extract information from me.  I can imagine some patients (most probably at this place) are utter nightmares.  It's a pretty large operation... they must have 5 therapists on staff, and it's all geared towards HIV people on disability.  They also have a "community living room" there that seems popular but I never go.

Oh, and honey -- my #2 combo was pure ovahness.  I also pranced into the porn shop, but didn't buy anything.  Since discovering torrents a couple of years ago I find  no need to budget money for masturbation inspiration.

It was a beautiful winter day here -- clear blue skies with a mid-day half moon or whatever the term is for that.  I should have taken my camera, as Ginsberg's office is a block from City Hall which is a gorgeously odd structure.  If I was rich I'd snap up one of the multi-million dollar residences in the Ritz Carlton condos being built next door... all the better because the Wendy's is next door to the Ritz.

There is a porn shop four blocks from my apartment called 'Pleasureland Museum.'  The original owner is a real dick.  He used to knock around the girls that worked there.  Now, he is in a wheelchair, has no legs, and has liver cancer.  Ah, karma.

It's one of those scenes I find myself revisiting with worrying frequency.  But if you insist I do have "Fist & Shout #2" and "Fisting Underground 3" on stand by.

I'm actually pondering "Bananas from Brazil" though for tonight's nightcap, along with copious amounts of Mother Smoothstone's Old Time KS Poppers.  (sorry for that steal of wording :)))

Unfortunately "Bareback Big Uncut Dicks #2" is loading in the most lethargic of manners currently.

Now what's wrong with going to the adult bookstore? I go on occassion. Nothing keeps a straight man from drinking out your glass like some penis ice cubes... :D I like looking at the toys there and usually when I go with my bff, she buys me a porno. I get one from her for my bday every year, it is tradition. I even got my first vibrator from her. Now that's what friends are for.... ;D

I just pop into Danny's because it's in the middle of the Gayborhood (yes, that's what they call it here... ain't that just scary???) and my HIV doctor is in the Gayborhood too, and my therapist is within spitting distance.  So invariably I pop in just to look over titles, then go home and look for them on one of two torrent sites in case I may have missed it while browsing.

I do own about 100 porn DVD titles purchased previous to my torrenting madness.  I also own a custom pair of leather chaps, custom leather vest, and off-the-rack leather vest, various codpiece contraptions, multiple cockrings both in metal, rubber and leather, numerous leather armbands/wristbands, 4 dildos.

I used to have a complete NYPD mounted officer outfit which was quite spectacular, including the pale blue helmut and striped jodhpurs but I gave it all to a close friend once when I was really, really high.  I had this pesky habit of doling out all sorts of things when I was zonked out of my mind and having after parties in the Brooklyn crib.  Had to halt that.

Don't tell me you've never visited the east coast, dear?  It's all about that... if you need a tour guide just let me know.  The entire region from Richmond up to Yonkers I know like the back of my hand.  It's so easy to take in DC > Baltimore > Philadelphia > NYC all in a mad dash if you know what you're doing.  This 250 mile stretch is one of the world's great megalopolises, a continual expanse of urban amusements.

From the legendary Bachelor's Mill in DC all the way to the extraordinarily seedy but regrettably defunct Cat's in Times Square, Philicia knows all of the off-the-beaten track dives.

I must say, however, that the time to have visited was during the early 90's -- they even shut down the Mount Morris Baths in Harlem.  Clutch the Pearls... what's the world coming too?  Al Sharpton's offices were right across the street.

I've been pretty much everywhere in the US, with the exceptions of the Chicago area and Seattle/Oregon.  When I was a kid we took massive road trips in our station wagons each summer.  One time we even did a two car caravan with 3 grandparents in tow all the way across the country to California, using a northern route in one direction and a southern one on the return.  I also have fond memories of my brother and I spitting on incoming patrons from the balcony of our hotel room which was adjacent to the Don Ho performance theater in Waikiki, but hey I was only 11 at the time.  I think we did it every night for five days or so.

Otherwise I'm afraid as an adult I've avoided the rest of the US, with the exception of once yearly jaunts to South Beach.  When you live in NYC it's much easier to fly to London than to go to LA, or at least that was my though process.  Basically it comes down to wanting Harvey Nichols or Fred Segal.  *giggle*

You've never been to Chicago?  I live about an hour and a half away from there.  My brother and I used to go to Cubs games.  I also went there one time with a Mexican girl I worked with because she had to get some certain kind of meat for her mum.  I really thought the 'China-town' part of Chicago was beautiful at night, all lit up.

Damn Philicia...You've been "All around the World" literally. I envy you since I like to travel. I have only been south such as Florida and Tennessee. I would love to visit Cali but wouldn't stay there cause of the quakes, that would freak me out. I live close to NY but never has been to NYC, I think I have a phobia of large crowds and the fear of getting lost. Hmm, something to mention to the therapist.. ;)

I always wanted to visit a bathhouse. I guess because my gay bff talked about it so much. A few of my gay friends did, I guess there was one in Cleavland that they use to go to. Are straight people allowed in those? And I have never heard of a straight bathhouse, is there such a thing? As for Chinatown, I hear most major cities have one. I would like to go to one, one day. Maybe visit a temple or something? I suppose they have authentic food there. *sighs, I need a vacation*

Oddly, though I have generalized anxiety disorder, large crowds and urban areas do not bother me -- in fact I really get off on the anonymity factor.  But then I've lived in such areas for the past 20 years so I'm used to it.  I grew up in a fairly small town... like around 10,000 people though it's 4 times that now.  Half the people in school were farmers, but I was a townie.

Now, lest anyone get the wrong idea about me, I was *never* a bath house queen.  Yes, I've been... and yes I've done legendary things there -- and not in a private booth but full on shows in front of crowds of people, and not in the dark back room either but where there was more light.  I have little shame, but for some reason in an effort to prevent potential messy sexual addiction I'd always limit my visits to no more than a couple of times a year, and generally that was at the place in San Juan where I knew I'd not run into any of my elitist NYC social clique and get read later for being plowed by 8 Dominican men in public.  Oh, speaking of Dominicans -- the public park up in Washington Heights is THE place to score married Dominican men who don't get enough loving from their wives.  Trust... honey!

There's a kind of straight bath house in NYC, in the East Village.  The Russian & Turkish Baths on E. 10th though I never actually went.... and I even lived 3 blocks away when I first moved there.  I knew this odd boy from Spain that used to go there... he also used to drink his own urine as he was coming down from ecstasy in an effort to get more bang for his buck.  He swore by that technique but I never went there.  He was wildly hot, but just SO odd that I spurned his attempts to bag me.

We have a Chinatown here in Philadelphia, but I don't know it very well.  I should explore it more.  Of course, the one in NYC is quite large and fun, and actually my old office was right adjacent to Chinatown so I went quite a lot.  I finally narrowed the choices down to this one basement place on Mott St (forget the name but know where it is) and this VERY authentic Schechuan place that wasn't actually in Chinatown, but was on 10th Ave @ 24th.  That was actually my favorite because they had crab meat soup dumplings -- phenomenal.  I orgasm just thinking about them.

I'm going to NYC actually next Saturday for 9 days!  It's my delayed annual birthday festivities, so I'm going to try and go get those dumplings.  I already have so many dinner plans laid out, as this will be a very social visit.  When I went in December I kind of just shacked up with my friends new infant and didn't get much done.  Currently I have 3 dinner dates in a row lined up -- I'm going to be exhausted and broke.  Well, the one restaurant a friend owns so I don't get charged anything :) The food there is to DIE for.

(be sure and click on the menu section  -- the sweetbreads with fennel and the foie gras with the sherry reduction are marvelous)

The bread pudding with cinnamon ice cream sounds fabulous.  I've never been to NYC.  I do want to go before I exit this earth.

Fortunately when I go back, which is several times a year, it's not too expensive for me.  I take the bus up, which is only $30 round trip and 1.5 hours (only one stop in between) and then I stay with friends.  All I really pay for is any entertainment, shopping and dining out, the latter which I don't obviously have to do every night because I can buy groceries and cook.  The main place I stay is what was my own apartment, because once my ex-roommate got married I moved out and they stayed there.  My old bedroom has become the baby nursery, but since he's only 3.5 months old he's still been sleeping in a crib in their bedroom.

I also sometimes spend a couple of days with a friend in Hoboken, which is only one subway stop over in New Jersey so it's quick to get into the city.  However, he's 29 and never seems to buy any furniture so I don't find it to be a very comfortable setting.  It's OK for 2 nights though, but not any longer.  I also have another friend with quite a bit of money that lives in a high rise on the East River, which if I was smart I'd crash there... he has a BMW too, but I never take him up on it.  Before he moved there he lived in a penthouse overlooking Central Park, and we always had the fiercest parties there.  That wasn't really his place though, it was a hold over from his Sugar Daddy who worked for Sotheby's and spent most of his time out in East Hampton.  *LIVE* for East Hampton.  Wall to wall money.
