how do u deal with PMS?
« on: February 08, 2008, 08:07:11 AM »
actually its more of the shitty moods u get when u are actually on!  i had a really bad day yesterday. i didnt get some money that i had been expecting, work was shitty and my evil boss was screaming at me for some stupid letter that hadnt gone. so i had phone my bf and he said he wanted to see me so i said ok and then i was supposed to call him and finalise where we were going to meet and all.  thats when my boss called me and chewed my ass off about the stupid letter. i was supposed to knock off at 4 but ended up leaving at 6 trying to get some info from some stupud websites that were really user-unfriendly. so i forgot to call and say i was late. i was in the bus about to go home adn he called me and i jumped down and waited for him.  he arrives and starts yelling at me. well not exactly yelling but he was complaining and i was like i said im sorry what more do u want lets go already! back and forth back and forth till i said "if we arrent doing anything i might as well go home coz i'm tired and hungry and mosqutioes are eating me" and he said fine u can go. so i went and jumped back on the bus.  he followed me after a few minutes and said "its fine" then left.
of course i was filled with remorse later and apologised. he just loves it that. steps on his high horse and start pointing out my flaws. fortunately that was thru text messages.  had we been face to face i really would have just said "oh fuck it why dont we break up already". i really was fed up.
and i know theres no way he can understand womens moods, he seems to think we should act like we are built same as men.
i wish I could go away on holiday when I have my periods or have PMS. i really feel like an alien takes over my body when i'm on, its so hard to control emotions and stuff. and it seems theres nothing to do about it except ride it out...
anyone feel like sharing PMS horror stories?

Tendai, I felt like I was almost in a different world when I would get PMS.  It was, though, the only time when I would feel horny.  Unfortunately, there's no one I know of who could've helped me along those lines.  Anyway, I would get extremely cranky.  I don't have any good stories at the moment.

It sounds like you really had a lot of extra stressors going on.  You seemed to handle them pretty good; I probably wouldn't have been so restrained.  I know that most men don't understand a hoot about women's bodies, hormone changes etc.  I wish that all men would experience a good bout of PMS and also what it feels like to give birth.  Then they might shut the hell up about us always being expected to "tough it out."

Tendai- I totally feel your pain!  I flip out when I have my period. I am overly emotional, overly angry, I usually just end up crying because I get so frustrated.  My SO likes to push my buttons(telling me I am cheating on him, that I don't do anything)  and then when I flip out he says " I was just kidding, can't you take a joke?"  Makes me insane.  So I think I have less of a tolerance level when I am ragging. I just have to tell myself that he has the mentality of a 6 yr old.
I don't know about you but I always feel so dirty when I have my period plus I have a lot of back pain so I am just a miserable bitch.
I don't have any useful advice except the old stand-by.....chocolate  ;D
Your bf could have easily picked up the phone too to check on you...you were working...so don't think that was all your fault.
When your evil boss is being evil try to picture him/her naked or in some compromising position or have some funny nickname in your head for them that makes you laugh, so then you can yes and no them to death and they will go away quicker.
I hope things get better for you.
Take care,
Snow

I guess I don't deal with PMS. It deals with me.

Either I am super happy and horny or I'm quick to be a bitch or quick to boo hoo. Sometimes I can see I'm being irrational or over the top but since I'm hormonally nuts I don't give a shit LOL

Fortunately I don't think I get horrid too often. I'm a pretty laid back happy go lucky kind of girl usually.

Betty - i also get horny when i'm on and i'm like "what the hell am i supposed to do about that?" of all times to be horny! our bodies are so weird. for sure if men could just experience what we go thru that would definately shut them up especially childbirth!
snow- i've been given the old "u're cheating on me". nowadays i just ignore him. its as if he's looking for a fight. and we both know he wont win, especially when i'm on. and i wil try chocolate, dont know why i never thought of that...U know for some reason i cringe at the thought of picturing my boss naked. i cant let my mind go there. its like forbidden territory!
wendy - u're lucky u're laid back. i'm a quiet person so when its combined with PMS i think i go around looking like a thundercloud. people have actually told me they;re afraid of me when i get like that

Oh yes.  And I think the older we get, the worse it gets.  Hopefully with me going on the Depo injection, it will subside (keeping my fingers crossed on that).  I can have the most wild mood swings during that time, I swear I'm manic-depressive.  I really don't go through the crying thing.  I'm just more depressed/irritable.

i wonder if governments would consider making it okay for women to take time off work until we recover from PMS. i mean it is a psychological (and physical) disorder isnt it. maybe if we had female presidents....

Maybe if we had female presidents... Its not likely most people will look at you like your nuts because not all women experience tough PMS. So the general attitude is "get over it"

Until I had Depo thats when i was at peace with PMs, I used to have terrible stomach pain to the extent that i wouldnt go to school.  I would be the bitchiest person in the family which was completely the opposite of my normal.  I used to hate them because everyone would know that i was on but that made them realise how bad PMs could be. Now its not a big deal as i can cope very well, i dont know if its the contraceptive I use or if its nature being nice to me.

We have a female president, but we still have to work during our periiod. ;D

I also pass 2 or 3 days with stomach pain, backache and moods swings.

Cause of my bad mood my husbands knows when I get my period and he asks me hiding himself:" Do you have your period?"

It's a burden and men don't know which big cross we carry around with this.

Thankfully I'm passed that stage now, but when I was going through it I found slapping the Sh*t out of hubby helped.. he always knew when it was about to happen so he would run for the hills but I always managed to track him down.. ;D ;)

just had to share this. they're so right!

PSYCHIATRIC STUDY
A study conducted by UCLA's Department of Psychiatry has revealed that the kind of face a woman finds attractive on a man can differ depending on where she is in her menstrual cycle. For example, if she is ovulating, she is attracted to men with rugged and masculine features. However, if she is menstruating or menopausal, she tends to be more attracted to a man with duct tape over his mouth and a spear lodged in his forehead while he is on fire. No further studies are expected.

Tendai,

Thanks that was too funny.

I just hate that I get so tired and just want to sleep unfortunately my life can't stop for me to do that unless it's the weekend, then I just go for it and sleep all I want.

I may get more annoyed easier with things/people right before and during my period, but it's not too bad. The only thing that I get that I know my period is coming is terrible back pain from about 3-5 before it starts all the way til it ends. most of the time my period is 7 days, so I deal with the back pain for almost 2 weeks!!!
