Looking to participate in community activism
« on: January 24, 2008, 04:50:20 PM »
It has been almost 2 years since I was diagnosed (5-5-06). I have known from the start that doing whatever I could to help others in my situation or helping others from getting infected was going to be of great importance for my long term survival. Well, here I am almost 2 years later having done nothing to be of service to my community. What I am looking for are people in So.California or better yet in San Diego, who have been active in public education, mentoring or any other aspect of activism, that might be able to point me in the the right direction. I am 42 yrs old ,very healthy, outgoing and have a very optimistic outlook on life. I love people and have a sincere desire to help weather it's carrying groceries for a senior citizen or helping the neighbor fix a shower valve. My availability is pretty much open at this time and am willing to travel to meet a specific need. Any and all comments are welcome, Have a great day!

Steven

That's a cool post. There's a non profit group that helps hiv+ people in San Diego and I assume volunteers too

Steven,

I agree that your post is great, and I wish you well in your efforts.

I don't know the area you are in and in addition to what Allopathicholistic offered above, suggest that you look into local ASO's that might need help.  I'm linking the directory from this site which allows you to find services via zip code.  http://directory.poz.com/

Good luck.

Mark
