Question about resistance and re-infection.
« on: January 07, 2008, 10:10:52 PM »
We were having a discussion in our support group, and we had a question we were stuck on: If a person is on Atripla and is then exposed to a form of the virus that is resistant to only one of the meds in it, will the other meds to which it is sensitive neutralize it?

From what my doctor has told me, the my combo of 4 meds, the others should take it out some form. Plus your body is producing anti-bodies at that point that will attack the virus as well make it doubly hard for the new strain to invade your body permanently. I am by far no expert on this, but that is what my ID doc here in DC told me...and he teaches at George Washington Univ. for whatever that is worth :)
