Well I started the Atripla last night...and I'm still here...
« on: January 01, 2008, 08:47:41 AM »
Ok first thing I am noticing...my eyes feel like they are crossing... kind of a combo btw these emoticons.... :o ::) HAHAH
Anyways so I overcame my mental roadblock and swallowed my first Atripla, my first HIV med at all, since testing + in April. And yes I survived it. Big pat on the back.

It wasn't easy getting (AMEN for ADAP), and thank god the holidays are over, now I hope to get back to some kind of reality. Since I just gave up on trying to do anything resembling a New Year's even this year, I saw the stupid ball drop, and by 12:01 I swallowed that pink monster and fell asleep. It didn't happen right away, but I did sleep which I didn't think was going to happen. And I do love my sleep so that was certainly a point of concern. Around 4am I got up to pee or something and I noticed I did have that delusional drunk walk which I have read about, but yet I was conscious of it, so I was quasi-able to control it. Went back to bed, had some weird dreamy type whatevers, and then got up like normal. I feel a little weak, kinda drained, but fuck it. Its a new year, I am starting a brand new job tomorrow, and things are looking a little better.

Listen I don't know any of you out there, but you were all there in my heart last night, and especially at 4am when I was fumbling around. I don't know who has the kid...her name is Mini....or something. But I thought about you cutting the pill in half for her and that made me smile. Reading that post, and all of these posts has helped. The board is great and may all you guys and gals find yourself fighting strong in 2008. 2007 is OVER!! Amen, what an awful year that was for me at least Sheeesh. I felt like that biblical character, who was it Job, that was tested a millions different ways til he was on the verge of tears. Yep, that was me. It still is and the struggles aren't easy but they make us who we are, I guess. Don't think about how other have it, only think about yourself because ultimately we all care for ourselves. That is my mantra for the new year and I hope to have the same vigor and enthusiasm that I have now in the upcoming weeks.

Now if you will excuse me I have a big old glass of water to gulp down. Happy 2008 to everyone. I live in New York and one day I hope to meet some of you. Dating is my next hurdle!! ;D

Happy New Year!

I took  my first one on Friday night.  It was a big mental hurdle to get over but now, 4 doses later, I'm doing well and back to feeling good about life.  The worst thing I've noticed is that "stoned" feeling if I take it too early and stay up too long.  My sleep has been good and have had some dreams but really nothing out of the ordinary.  I'm keeping my fingers crossed for both/all of us that the smooth sailing continues.

I focus on the the bright side ... thank God we have this drug and that with it, we can expect to live a long, normal, healthy life if we take care of ourselves!

Good for you Seeking.  I know that the Sustiva that's in Atripla can make you feel stoned, but when I was on Sustiva and I felt that way, I just went with it and enjoyed it! :D  Happy New Year!

Happy New Year to you, Truth.  I'm about a year ahead of you in terms of diagnosis / meds start dates.  I don't even really notice the Atripla any more.  I guess it's just one of those things we adjust to or ignore.  Hopefully, it'll be as uneventful for you as it was for my hubby and I.  Take care.

Yeah you are right, taking Atripla is metaphorically speaking like being swallowed by a whale and then being puked out. But that is only the first day or so.  It will come to a year soon for my first time but now the side effects are not as bad and even the fatigue is better.  Well, have a Happy New Year and all the best.
