Weight Loss
« on: December 28, 2007, 09:46:26 AM »
I have just completed a 12 week Core program called Healthy Meal Replacements (HMR) at my health club.  Last night I "graduated" to the maintenance program.  Over the past 12 weeks, I have lost 26 pounds.... almost four inches of waist as well.  My clothes are now appropriately (perhaps inappropriately) baggy.  My last bout of weight gain (there have been numerous ones in my adult life) began as soon as I started HAART in May 2006.  I was quite chunky by the time I was at AMG in San Francisco.  The HMR program is like NutraSystem (you eat their food and drink their Kool Aid) but it is medically supervised and there is a weekly "class" and support.  I am pleased with the results.  Now that I am on maintenance, I hope to forestall any nasty weight gains in the future.

It never occurred to me once I was diagnosed that weight gain would be a problem.  Indeed, for some of you, weight loss is a problem.  For me, it has been weight gain, especially fat gain.  This combination of diet and exercise and program support has been invaluable.

HMR is available nationwide.  I would be delighted to describe it further to anyone interested.

Enjoying a leaner (and less meaner) me!

That's really encouraging news, Gary!  Congratulations to you.  I don't know how you managed to do it around the holidays.  I'm planning on doing something after New Year's.  I have to-I keep going up in pant sizes.

Gary,

That does sound great. Continued Success !!!  When I started on meds, I gained as much as 40 pounds, over a period of approx. 14 months. That brought my weight up to 180. Which was just too much for someone 5 foot, 7 inches.

But that weight gain was neccessary, since I had lost so much weight (30 pounds ) back throughout 2003.

I am just watching what I eat, stay away friom the junk, and crap food.  I have been at a stable weight now of about 172 pounds, for quite a while now. I could probably stand to loose another 7 pounds or so, but I am pretty well pleased, with the current weight ! I just need to get a little more physical activity in !!

Current Meds ; Viramune, Epzicom, 40mg of simvastatin, 12.5mg of Hydrochlorothiazide.
Metoprolol tartrate 25mg
