A lady came over and bought all of the puppies today. I'm kind of sad now.

Do you still have your baby?

No, my crabby old parents wouldn't let me keep Rascal. At least I have my little Felix to play with.

Wait a sec--you mean she bought them all as in...they're gone already? Aren't they only 4 weeks old??  Who knew Cruella Devil had resettled in Tennessee...

...and I'm sad you didn't get to keep Rascal.  Did rour folks (the Crabs) know that you meant to keep him?  This is just to sudden for me!

Yes they knew what it meant for me to keep  Rascal, but they still wouldn't let me have him. The puppies were 4 weeks old today. I spoke my mind about the little ones being too young to go away from the mother. They barely have teeth,. the only thing they have ever eaten is mothers milk. I advised the  woman that purchased them to wait untill the 26th to get them.  I make my opinion known & I get shot down for it.

They are gone and there is nothing I can do about it.

Dan,

You told them it was too soon and she took them anyway? What kind of caring owner does something like that? (I mean the woman, not you) Not only is she risking their health, but they also won't be properly socialised yet either - that's something mom takes care of and it's an important part of their development.

I would have been on the phone reporting her ass to the SPCA. If you have her address, do it. I would. I mean, what the hell is she going to do with all those too-young puppies... making stew? ???

I'm really sorry to hear about this Dan. It's bad enough you didn't get to keep Rascal, but to have ALL of them taken far too soon... it beggars belief. :(

Hugs

I've been simmering on this since last night.  Yes, this is WAY too soon for the pups to be removed from their mother.  As Ann said, it is going to have serious ramifications for their socialization skills, quite often turning them into very timid and unsure little creatures for the rest of their lives. They need to be with Mom for as close to eight weeks as possible.

I may be wrong, but I suspect the influence of Christmas in all this.  Otherwise, I can't imagine why it couldn't have waited a few more weeks.  Unless Ann is right about the stew.

OMG, I just googled puppy mill cos didnt know what it is, awful.

Dan, I think you have every legitimacy to do a follow up on those pups, see how they are settled etc. at the very least buying so many together is suspect, b/c it is unlikely that one person will keep them all together.

Hoping for the best...
