Wow I don't know if I should be  >:( or  :o or  ???
Anyways there is this gay blog called Towleroad that I read..it's pretty good, keeps me up to date on gay politics and things like that. Anyways the blogger started a post about the Rise in HIV cases that are seen in MSM relationships (men who have sex with other men). Well, half way through I posted a comment under the name "JAKE" and man oh man did people start to tear me to shreds.

The jist of my intial comment revolves around coming to terms with my finding out I was HIV+ and how the first year (well it will be a year in April 08) has been tough, no doubt, but I am finding new found strength from it. It's been a wake up call, and it has forced things into perspective with out a doubt. It make have sounded too cliche, but I said "it was one of the best things that has ever happened to me..." You know to quote Sarah Silverman, "when life hands you AIDS, make LemonAIDS." Yes its sucks but you GOTTA MOVE ON and be STRONG. Everyone here demonstrates such a wealth of strength it's been inspiring. I have found that the first year of being HIV+ is more a mental condition than a physical one, and I credit this board, Friends in Deed, my therapist, my long time doctor, and my best friend with SLOWLY pulling me through to a place of strength and enlightenment. No not religion, not ORGANIZED religion, at least. But a path, and I hop all of you guys on this board find your path. I personally have a long way to go, but I am moving. Not dying. Living.

Anyhoo, read this post and I would love to get some feedback. Like I said all my posts are under the name/alias "Jake"

It's Cliche to say this, but becoming HIV + was one of the best things to happen to me, I've never been mentally emotionally or physically more solid. It's not necessarily a bad thing anymore. We're all going to pass away one day, and becoming HIV+ makes you cherish life and take care of yourself in ways you never were capable of understanding before.

Ja. I have to say I've never actually fathomed that particular mindset. But if having AIDS works for you, all power to ya kid.

oops... I see an old friend's name there as I begin reading the comments.  I hope he doesn't get nasty with you later, because she's really got a mouth on her.

Actually read towleroad before coming on here today...go figure

The chances of everyone agreeing on any topic let alone this one are pretty slim. Actually I agree with you.

The important thing is you be happy and you live your life and you take care of yourself.

Two immediate reactions:

1. Don't expect people on a non-HIV site to get your point about HIV issues

2. Don't expect people on a HIV site to get your point about HIV issues.

I know you may understand the former, but as for the second point, well...Let's just say I never liked lemonade.
