Is this a really bad test?
« on: October 25, 2007, 08:19:03 PM »
two months ago my last test on August 2 my CD4 was at 880 at 35% my Vl over 100000 today I got my results from October 10th and my CD4 fell to 340 at 26% my VL is now at 53 000.

340 is getting really low?   Am I on my way to meds pretty quick here?

It will be 10 months now that I have been infected with HIV I still get random night sweats, but over all I feel pretty fine.

Well you really need to discuss it with your doctor, but the CDC recommends starting treatment when CD4 levels hit around 350.  If I were you I would test again in a few weeks to see if it was just a blip or a downward trend.   I recently started taking meds because my CD4 level was in the 200-300 range and I was afraid to wait any longer.  I was not on meds for over a year and I finally thought it was time.

It's a very personal decision and definitely one that you should consider carefully with the advice of your Infectious Disease Specialist.

Good Luck with what ever you decide.

OK so freaked out abit called my DR. and he told me that this is nothing to get alarmed about yet saying that the CD4 % is still good and that the CD4 ranges from day to day and that compared to all my other tests I have had since January its actually OK?
and that the VL shows that there is not alot of the virus in me? Trying to explain to me that the VL has dropped alot?

any ways looking forward to hearing anyone Else's comments about this.  Thanks

Hi,

you're one of the few people that test every month or two. Most test every 3 months, and if you look at your 3 month trend, the CD4 is slowly declining, your VL hasn't moved, really, as 100000 is almost the same as 53000 in terms of VL. 100000 is a VL log of 5.0, 53000 is a VL log of 4.6, so it decreased .4 points, which is not enough to say that it has either increased or decreased significantly.

Your doctor is looking at the big picture from the first test to now and has decided to wait a bit to see what's up. It could be that you may be going on meds in 2008 if this trend continues, but you can spend christmas and new years without worries :)

Milker.

thanks for your opinion M. the thing is up untill this test my CD4 seemed like it was going up i started at 480 then 450, 560, 590, 560, 880! then all of a sudden 340! So on my last post people where telling me how great my numbers where going and I wouldn't be seeing med's for along time so immagine how shocked I am to hear this news within 2 months time.

alittle off topic does anyone else break out in a rash on there feet and ears arms its kinda itchy but just goes away...pretty much everyday it start on my ears they get hot then my feet then they start to get itchy and then on my arms ...not sure if this is an allergic reaction or anything to do with my HIV.  I use the same laundry detergent as always.. i dunno? maybe this should be another post..

Sorry last night I read 480 instead of 880!

I must say i'm wondering more about the 880/35% than the other numbers which seem more in sync. Since your tests are so close to each other I'd wait for a couple more to see what is the trend. I know it's difficult to not live by the numbers, but try to !
