Alper, first of all I have deleted your entry in the thread about Christine's death. You have no business posting in any of the HIV+ threads. If you do it again you're risking being banned from this site. It was particularly unfeeling of you to do it in a thread which was started to remember someone who had died recently.

As to your question, you have tested negative well beyond the 13 weeks which the CDC recommends for getting a reliable result. You are HIV negative. Period. End of story. No further testing is necessary.

180 days or 6 months is an outdated concept for testing EXCEPT if intravenous drug use is involved OR the person has a severely depleted immune system because of cancer treatments or a similar situation. And before you rush to think you have a depleted immune system, believe me if that were so you'd know it because when that happens everything is falling apart physically.

The CDC for sometime has recommended 13 weeks as a reliable testing point.

You're HIV negative. Get on with your life.

Alper,

You are hiv negative and you do not need further testing.

I deleted the new thread you started. Read our Welcome Thread and pay attention to the forum posting guidelines. If you don't start abiding by our rules, you'll be banned.

Make sure you click on and read the Lessons provided in the Welcome thread. We're not going to answer questions just because you can't be bothered to read the Lessons.

1. Yes, it will be conclusive.
2. Hepatitis will not affect your test result for HIV.

Alp,

If your friend had unprotected intercourse, then he needs to test three months after the incident. If he used a condom, he doesn't need to test over this particular incident.

Only those who have either been involved in intravenous drug use OR have had treatment for cancer or otherwise have a severely impaired immune system need to test to 6 months. And before you start worrying about an impaired immune system, when that happens everything is pretty much collapsing healthwise so it's not like a cough or a cold or the flu.

For all others testing at 12-13 weeks after a risky incident is sufficient to get a reliable answer.

You're welcome.

It's troubling that so many doctors are not informed and continue to give out scary and inaccurate information about testing. 13 weeks is reliable with today's improved tests. Period.

The only thing I want at the moment from Turkey and everywhere is for everyone who is not in a securely monogamous relationship in which both partners test negative together, for everyone else to make sure they use a condom everytime they have intercourse. (I would like to visit Turkey someday. I haven't done that yet but that's for another time.)

The only way we can begin to get control of the epidemic and cut down on new infections is through the consistent use of condoms.

Thanks for your offer. Just take care of your health. That's the best thing for everyone to do.

Good luck to you and enjoy the hard but very worthwhile work of being a dad to your new baby.

When an immune system is SEVERELY damaged then all kinds of illnesses and serious body problems happen. It's not about a cold or sniffles or anything like that. It's manifested in all kinds of infections and collapsing of ordinary bodily functions. Believe me you would know if it was happening to you. And hopefully it never will.

Alper,

Once again, I've merged your new thread into your original thread - where you should post all your additional thoughts or questions. It helps us to help you when you keep all your additional thoughts or questions in one thread.

If you need help finding your thread when you come here, click on the "Show own posts" link under your name in the left-hand column of any forum page.

Please also read through the Welcome Thread so you can familiarize yourself with our Forum Posting Guidelines. Thank you for your cooperation.

We've already told you what the "real" test time is - three months.

YOU ARE HIV NEGATIVE AND YOU DO NOT NEED FURTHER TESTING!

If you ever bother to read the Welcome thread like we've repeatedly asked you to, you would also have read the following posting guideline:

Quote
Anyone who continues to post excessively, questioning a conclusive negative result or no-risk situation, will be subject to a four week Time Out (a temporary ban from the Forums). The purpose of a Time Out is to encourage you to seek the face-to-face help we cannot provide on this forum.

Please consider yourself warned.

If you cannot accept your hiv negative status, please see a counselor so you can learn how to cope with your anxieties. We cannot help you with that here.
