Should have posted here!
« on: September 06, 2007, 06:18:31 PM »
Hello everyone.  I have just written my first post and put it on the I Just Tested Poz.  I wish I hadn't been so nervous and upset and not paying attention  because I would have rather posted it here with all you wonderful women out there!  Anyway, rather than clog up the works with yet another lengthy rant, you will find me (Lostgirl) on there if you wish to read it.  Briefly I am the rural girl from Scotland (girl - who am I kidding!) who doesn't know what to do, who to turn to and where I left my brain, who tested positive this week thanks to my husband of 14 years who had been less than honest in our marriage.  Who all out there thought they had a wonderful marriage full of love, trust, great monogomous (only me it turns out) sex life (sorry all you younger ones going 'yuck - at her age!') and looking forward to retirement together?  I know I am not the only one.
I run from being pro-active to cowering in a corner and wanting to die.  Thankfully I found you all, and now have someone to talk to.

Hi Lost

Welcome to the forum, you will find the ladies here more than helpful....you can rant, vent, scream and shout out your frustrations here and they will still support you and look after you.

I was born in Perth Scotland, lived for quite a few years in Musselburgh (just outside Edinburgh), spent twenty years in Australia and now live on a little farm NZ.

My hubby stills calls me his girl..and we became Great Grandparents a week ago... ;)...age is only a number.

I hope you stay around and take part in these forums, look forward to hearing more from you.

Hugs
Jan :-*

Welcome to the forums, lostgirl!  You're taking a big step.  Even though it's just on the computer, it's huge.  Thanks for sharing.  Hope to hear more from you.

LG

My bloodlines (not my birth sadly) hail from Ayre, I love and it's not a joke, haggis. I country dance (in the kilt I bought in Edinburgh) at least once a year and always to celebrate Bobby Burns' birthday. In fact, I delivered the memorial last year. So, all that to say Welcome Scotswoman Welcome!!!!!!!

Your circumstances suck to be brief about it. You don't say how old you are (oh, maybe it's in your profile, who cares--I'm "old"), but there's no Yuck to sex at any age--no youngsters here will be judging I assure you. They should be relieved in a sense.

If nothing else, allow us to help you hold on to that proactive stance. Cowering is perfectly understandable, but we want to help you put that "wanting to die" notion to its own peaceful rest as soon as possible.

There's plenty to read all throughout the site and many women have had the virus delivered to them in a variety of ways, some quite horrific and sadly, many infected by people who knew they were positive. And, like you, most all of them (us) were blindsided.

Consider this a Clydesdale-sized hug to you from across the Atlantic.

Em

Welcome,
Of all my travels; I have never been to Scotland, though I would love to see it. I love Europe because of it's history, the U.S just doesn't have it.
None the less, you are most welcome, and thank you for posting....I think Em really did a great job writing your welcome here, so I won't go into great detail, or repeat what's already been said...except to say welcome again, and please continue to post, we would really love to read it.

much love,

Hi there,

I LOVE scotland.... and wanted to welcome you here under these sad circumstances.

There are a lot of middle aged women with HIV, I see them in my clinic here in the Netherlands. I think all or most under similar circumstances.

My heart is with you and please, don't feel old or whatever, we need the diversity here and I am old enough (34)to appreciate those older than me. Quite a few of the men are older too.

Take care and be strong

I just wanted to add my welcome along with everyone else.  I haven't been here long but all the women have definitely made me feel welcome!!!
