New Results!
« on: August 25, 2007, 10:06:03 PM »
Like many of you, I approach my "every 3 months" labs with some anxiety.  I wanted to get the results back before we meet in San Francisco and I am blessed to have good news to report.  I have been on Atripla since early Feb this year and my numbers keep improving!

CD4 = 761

CD4% = 42.3%

VL =  <48 (thats a new one for me...I thought 50 was as low as they could measure)

My lipids are still too high (but a little better.)  Triglycerides down about 10% to 301 (I have added fish oil 3x a day), total cholesterol still high at 236 and bad cholesterol high at 135.  However, for the first time since I started measuring (way back in 2001) my good cholesterol is in the normal range at 41.

My diet and exercise leave much to be desired...so I need to focus on that.  I know I have been blessed with these good numbers.

MtD... I am guessing it was the selenium I added!  I have been thinking about you since I read about your terrible ordeal.  I, too, am sending positive energy your way!

Thanks for the kind comments.  I am going to see a dietician at my health club today to get started on a weight management program (including calorie control.)  I am now up to 184 (ugh) and should be around 160.  Of course, its all in the gut...still have chicken legs and chicken arms.  So, hopefully I can get re-energized into exercise (I have fallen off the wagon) and better eating habits (with a brief break while we are in San Francisco.)

Hmmm, chicken arms and legs? Are they "fried."  ;)

Seriously though, great numbers. See you in SF!!

Hi Gary,

Those numbers are improving rather quickly!  It seems that Atripla works wonders for those that can deal with it.  Of course, I'm taking a while to get down that that elusive 'undetectable' level, but it seems to work quickly for most.  I'm sure we'll both take a diet break in S.F., but we'll definitely make up for it with exercise (walking).

(I got one of those <48 yesterday for the first time...never seen it qualified below 50 before.)

Milker...the ass got a workout when I had a colonoscopy a few months ago (ain't being over 50 fun?) Oddly enough, it could use some padding (note...that is NOT paddling), but alas all of the padding seems to be in the gut.

I started back to the gym today (treadmill and arc trainer) and am looking into one of those weight management programs.  I must admit...once I was diagnosed HIV+ I thought I was never going to see the day that I would worry about gaining weight.  How wrong I was!

Whatever you do at the gym, do it with either a trainer or an experienced person. I have learned that doing it alone, unless you have had basic training, doesn't work.

Much devoted to my trainer...I have been with him for over two years now.  He overhauls my program every two months or so (except when I drop off the face of the earth as i did during the summer months.)
