Where has romance gone?
« on: August 29, 2007, 01:19:04 AM »
Don't get me wrong, I can give and take a vigorous fuck, even anonymous sex at times... but I often long for the "good old days" when more men were into the personal and intimate connection with a partner.  Seems like drugs, alcohol, and HIV have created situations where sex is much less intimate.  So awesome when there is that deep, intimate connection, and fucking is intense, vigorous, deep and complete.
Feeling a need to express this thought.... would love to hear your thoughts about it.

The good old days (in realtion to your question): for some they are over, for some they are just beginning, for some they will never have them and for some they only have known them.

I think your question is a valid one but I'd be cautious about labeling it as something that only existed yesteryear.  Understand that this is not about offended sensibilities so much as blaming a false argumnent for what is bothering you.

This btw:

is something I wholeheartedly agree with.

I can see how one could feel that way, but some of the best, most intimate situations for me (i.e. fucking and friendships) have been when there's been a bit of alcohol and (light) drug use - like pot.  With the daily worries and BS gone, what's left is the desire, passion, and intimacy.  I agree that the same things can interfere with most situations, too.  HIV can certainly be a barrier, but I've noticed, in some cases, it's been just the opposite.  Like meeting or being around other HIV+ people, there's a particular bond, a closeness that's not present in most (of my) day to day personal interactions.  That closeness can bring about an intimacy that's not too far off from a deep affection.  These things can bring us closer to each other  or they can present obstacles and make things difficult.  I've met some people, but didn't know their POZģ status until after my diagnosis.  When I found out, it was like we had something real in common.  I'm sure this sounds a bit peculiar, but it's been my experience so far in my 18 months of diagnosis.  The medical aspects have been somewhat shitty, but the bonds and interactions I've developed have been pretty deep.

I guess most of this depends on where one is in terms of what they're seeking, how they're dealing with HIV and what problems it's causing them, and their particular environment and situations.

I had vigorous intense, deep fucking with my last partner... LOTS (and poppers too) and we also had a lot of love.  It can and does still happen.

Sorry to hear you're going through a rough patch finding it GoodMatchHawaii.  I know you've either shared or hinted at having these frustrations on the board previously but it seemed as though you accepted that part of this was that you live on the Big Island of Hawaii and there were less cockage resources or something.  I can't judge that as I've never lived there (though I have visited).

If you feel like exploring this more on here feel free to do so.
