I love this country
« on: August 28, 2007, 11:43:03 PM »
I love Australia and what we stand for.

A week or so back, it was revealed that the leader of the opposition Labor Party, and hopefully our next Prime Minister after the upcoming election, visited a strip club in NYC whilst he was there on official business at the UN in 2003. He admitted to being there but said he was too drunk to remember any of the detail. He also admitted that it was probably not the wisest thing he's ever done.

The most recent opinion polls show that his popularity has increased by nearly 2% since the revelations. Australians, apparantely, believing that the strip club visit showed that he is just an average jo blo, one of us, rather than some elitist ratbag.

In the same week, it was revealed that our Prime Minister had met with the leader of a secretive religious sect. His approval rating fell 2%. Australians not trusting of the religious right.

Love it.

Does your country know yet that I slept with him?

Wait for that little bit of news to hit the airwaves and THEN we'll see where his ratings are.

P.S. He doesn't swallow...and because of that he owes me for a pair of dolce & gabanna shoes.....

ok they were payless but I spent a lot of tie writing D&G on them and expect to be compensated.

so long as he was not in the closet and pretending to be something he is not, I doubt we would care

Little Stevie Wonder Boy, you can't make up what happened to former Prime Minister Malcolm Fraser while on a visit to Memphis in 1986. Seems the ex-labor PM woke up in one of Memphis' most notorious hotels sans his pants. The Admiral Benbow Inn was the place to be when in need of tricks, drugs, unlimited partying and debauchery. I know, I used it on a regular basis during the eighties. I hear tell Fraser's misfortune in Memphis has become Australian legend.

I think this is what we all crave, a little honesty.  Bob Woodard has a book about scandals that have occurred in every administration from Nixon through Clinton.  By  telling the truth from the beginning things only got worse. I often wonder had Clinton not lied and just said yes, I had an affair with Monica, it was a mistake and I am sorry, what would have happened.  Of course we will never know.
