moving across the country - how to find a new doctor?
« on: August 22, 2007, 06:33:38 PM »
I'm moving from Nevada to a VERY rural area of Florida.  I'll be about 100 miles north of Orlando and Tampa, and about 50 miles south of Gainesville.

Within the last year, I have just found the most fantastic doctor here in Nevada.  I'm seriously considering flying out here to see him, but the reality is that this is not very practical.

How should I go about finding a new doctor, especially considering that I'll be in the middle of BumbleBug, Florida?

http://www.irissoft.com/aids/ FL Patient Care Services Directory

I found that page thru this one:

hope that helps...

That is a good site, but it seems to be geared toward people who are looking for state programs.  I'm just looking for a good, qualified, up-to-date physician in my area (or within 50 miles).  Any ideas?

I actually don't live in FL.  I would look for an Infectious Disease Specialist in the area you are moving to.

Gosh, this is a no-brainer.

....and they are only 50 miles away.  In Gainesville.

ademas - I've sent an email to the address you provided.  Hopefully, they will be able to give me the info I'm looking for.

whizzer - I visited that site...looks like a research facility.  Can't tell for sure, but it looks like they only accept new patients by referral.

Thanks to all of you for your help!

Hey, Here's a suggesstion ... why not ask your present doctor who you are seeing to see if he could refer you to someone in Florida... you'll have to have your present records sent to whomever you choose for your medical history... and care. John
