Had a slight panic attack today..
« on: August 04, 2007, 06:08:37 PM »

Early this morning, Ed's mother called, and asked me if I could come over to her house, and see what the problem was with her car trunk lid. It wouldn't close. So Ed and I went over around noon, and I took a look at at. Apparently there is a plastic link that connects the lock mechanism to the latch, and the plastic link was broken. No problem, I put some bungy cord on the trunk lid to temporarily  hold it down, until I can go to the dealership and get a new plastic link.

After that Ed and I decided on lunch. I was going to pay for the lunch, reached around to my left rear pocket, and... no wallet !! I immediately freaked out. This wasn't a minor freak out, this almost made me want to heave up,...I was so upset about it.  I had some money in the front pocket so I paid for lunch, but practically inhaled the food down.

I said lets go home, there is a small chance I may have left it there. All my credit cards, gas cards, bank cards, voter ID, Health Insurance card, drivers license, social security card, everything was in there.

I then said to Ed, lets go back over to your mothers, and take a look there first, before I go cancelling all the accounts out.

I WAS LUCKY !! I looked around at Ed's mothers house, and found it in the yard. That was surprising, since the grass was high ! When I removed the bungy cord from my left rear pocket, the wallet must have came out with it, but I didn't realize it until 45 minutes later.

Anyway, That was my freakout of the day. Everything is fine again, blood pressure is back to normal, and pulse is also normal.  :P

Hey Ray,

Been there a few times myself. Nothing freaks me like that sinking feeling of an empty pocket that is supposed to contain my wallet.

Glad you found it.

Ray, had the same sensation happen recently. That level of panic has very real physical pain associated with it. Intense muscular tension. Weird sensation. So glad it turned out well for you. Lord, all those cards and the work and waits behind replacing each one. Sheesh!
