My dream
« on: May 17, 2007, 01:35:32 AM »
I just woke up. Was having this dream, where I was walking and walking and walking with a friend. We were going up and down through different terrain, at a steady pace but fast enough to feel energised. Suddenly a guy appeared in front of us, also walking ahead, forging on deliberately. I didn't realise in the dream that we had a destination we were actually aiming for until we eventually burst through some bushes and saw the guy launch himself, without hesitation, off the edge of a sheer drop into the water below. As me and my friend reached the edge, my friend started to falter but I got ready to jump. When I saw my friend hesitate, I too started to hesitate. I umm-ed and ahh-ed for a minute or so, psyching myself up to do it, then suddenly changing my mind. Then I suddenly realised that the fear would only ever go away once I'd actually jumped. So I started unlacing my boots determined I was going to jump...

That's when my alarm went off and I woke up. I actually wanted to go back to sleep to see myself jump off but I had to get up. I'm not really into dreams being particularly symbolic; I'm more of a believer that dreams are our unconscious sorting through all the stuff in our brains.

In the past, that sort of dream would have had me feeling panic. This morning I take great comfort from it.

Struggling to sleep this morning (didn't too well last night)...

Maybe I need to start writing my journal again instead of boring you poor guys/gals...

I just woke up with a start. Was having another dream, I was dreaming that I was on an underground train with my family. We didn't know which stop we were meant to get off at. I had the crumpled ticket in my hand, but the name of the station was smudged. Suddenly the dream cut to a waiting room in a doctors or dentists or something. My mum was holding the cutest baby. Then a nurse or someone came and took the baby. I was watching her play with him/her thinking wow s/he's so cute! (the baby, not the nurse!). Then suddenly the nurse loses grip of the baby, it topples over the chair in front of her. My reaction is not fast enough and the baby hits the floor before I can reach it. I scramble over to pick the baby up, but barely have the energy to move let alone lift him/her. That's when I woke up.

I'm beginning to wonder if the cats are slipping stuff into my bedtime drink... ::)

For the longest time I've wished that there was a way to visually capture my dreams as I sleep so I can later sit down and watch them from the third person perspective.  It's more often than not impossible to remember all the details that make dreams, and in particular vivid ones, so stirring.  I like waking up feeling like I've been torn out of a situation that never really existed in the first place, only to find myself trying to dive right back in.  I can only imagine the stories that could be told if this device I've longed for actually came to be.  Perhaps one day...

I keep a notebook/pen on bedside cabinet, for capturing those fleeting moments of early hours brilliance

yesterday, I wake up, notebook is open…on it is written:

2.43am

SEND TO EDDIE!!! (this, circled & underlined several times, in a kinda frenzied way)

And then a sort of flow chart, mapping out a proper bizarre sketch (for eddie izzard to perform?) about dachshunds. Not just yr bog standard dachshunds, either. No, these are the Dachshunds of Death (I have helpfully put a little note to myself, "like vultures..??" )

Rest of the sketch involves a terraced house, ("CORONATION STREET", written next to this) a woman called maude, & those dented cans you find in the clearance trolley at sainsbury's ("WHY ALWAYS PINEAPPLE. WHO STEALS LABELS??")

Finally, bottom of the page in small writing, simply

"link to flying squirrel..?"

You just can't buy this kind of crazy  :) - kate

I have some pretty bizarre dreams also Melia.  Last night I had a dream that I was at the delicious Italian buffet.  I work up hungrier than s***!

Me too, UpAllNight! I would love to record them and turn some into stories. Of course, publishing some of mine might mean instant confinement in a nut barn.

I am too bad to remember dreams, but i do think they have meanings, not exactly like premonitions but they are like hints for us to do something.

Ok, i know many would think i am silly but for me it is clear that you are afraid of something Melia (perhaps the trip or something else) but you have to do it .... despite others doubting about it.

About the baby, well.... somehow when i read your dream i felt the baby was you.... and that perhaps it meant that you are really worried and afraid that others would hurt you... and that you might think you are not fast/strong enough to help yourself (just guessing... just speaking out my mind... don't take me serious).

and about the man shouting help.... Melia, you need to help someone... there will be someone along the path you are walking in life these days that will need help... and it will be important for you to help this person. Otherwise you might not dream about it.

I think dreams come with meanings when there is something specific in life we have to do or realise... otherwise life/destiny/God uses all other ways of guiding us.

As for me, my dreams have always given me hints of my situation in life and have reminded me of past lessons i needed to re use. Other times my dreams just are there to let me accept i am sometimes very afraid of my movements in life. If i forget a dream i know it had no meaning, but if i wake up and get this printed in my mind, i know i have to do something about it.

Hi Juan

Although as a general rule, I don’t believe dreams have much meaning, I actually interpreted this dream as positive. I think it was about facing and overcoming fears and making exciting changes. The guy swimming didn’t need saving – he had jumped in on purpose and was swimming happily. When I looked down and saw him swimming so freely in the beautiful water, I decided that I wanted some of that too (the swim that is, not the guy! :P) and that my fear of jumping would only go away once I actually jumped, plus it would be worth it. Change can often be likened to leaping from one cliff to another, whether the change is small or large.

If the dream does indeed have any meaning at all, I think it is linked to my decision to move back to the UK. It is symbolic of the fact that I am ready for change; and that I am no longer afraid, which is why I, in fact, decided to jump off the cliff. Although I deliberated for a long time, I now am totally sure about my decision to go home; I feel no doubt or trepidation about what I am embarking on, only excitement!

I have no idea about the baby dream; although I suspect my abstinence from pursuing a relationship still may perhaps be about dealing with the whole disclosure/possible rejection thing. Although I don’t care about it with family and friends and have been more and more comfortable disclosing with them, whatever the outcome, I am yet to be faced with a potential partner and their reaction. My one experience of disclosing to a date ended badly and, although I’m not actually afraid of what may happen in future situations, I suspect I may also be not quite ready. All in good time though…

As for the man shouting help, it's a typical trait of my character to try to help any one who may ask for or be in need of help; only if they want to help themselves though too.

All in all, I believe we have the power to see what we want to see in dreams and interpret them as we see fit. It is in the same sense that I believe we are masters of our own destiny, able to find or create purpose and meaning in every experience in life.

guess what... i had a dream...(more like a nightmare)

it was morning and i was washing my face in front of a mirror when i suddenly saw it covered with several spots with pus.... and then i opened my mouth and lot of spots with pus inside it, and in my throat... i though it was candidiasis... and got afraid... and started to think how i would cure it!! Then i woke up.

I guess this latency period between hiv and aids is bothering my nerves.
